In making our own minerals, we like grinding the trace minerals into a "dust" which mixes easier. I also feel it is not so gritty in the deers mouth and they just might get more that way. Just a personal thing, but it works for us. I have used a blender but it only does about 3 cups and you need to shake it up and down while grinding. I used a small electric coffee grinder but that was just too slow and time consuming. Found a hand crank coffee and grain grinder on ebay. To make "dust" it was extremely hard on your shoulders and arms. 4-6# would wear you out! Took us about 3 1/2 hrs with breaks to grind a 50# bag. (We were mixing minerals and bagging while on break as well). Got the idea to get rid of the handle, thread the shaft, add two 3/4 x 10 half nuts w/loctite. Then got a bit for a drill to run a 1 1/8" socket. Backed this whole thing up with a 1/2 Hp. Dewalt drill and we were in business!

Chad has a video of how it ran when completed.
