Howd the truck do?

Didn't break anything, which was a nice change! Pulled the Hills like a $5 whore looking for the next $5. Doesn't handle as well as the ton truck, but not bad. Averaged 10.2 mpg...which is something I'm not used to at all! All in all, for a 100% bone stock truck, I can't complain. I can fix the handling with a fancy hitch and fuel economy isn't a legit complaint in my book. So I'm happy with it.

If I could only find a way to shut the fucking kids up in the back seat...I sure miss my system[emoji23].

Looks like time well spent Dave. I hope to get ours out a couple more times this fall but, who knows.

Wow, 6 months since the last entry in this thread!

Anyone looking at a new camper/tent or upgrades for this coming season?

I’m still happy with ours and don’t foresee any need for change at this point. Being that I don’t have a real truck anymore, we will see how she toes behind a half ton...I’ve got one of those fancy hitches now (that I need to set up one of these days...). Still a lot of metal for a little truck. Might need to entertain a light weight camper that isn’t 4 season. I hope not, I like this heavy pig, and this camper fits the big picture needs perfectly.

I’d like to add some sort of cooking rack for a fire foods this year. Something adjustable for height/heat with a nice sized cooking grate and place to put a Dutch oven. I’d love to make some Dutch oven pizzas and fresh bread. (I’d as in...ask Christine to do it[emoji23])

We used to have one like that, didn’t like it at all. My buddy has one I really like. Never seen another one like it, he said he got it from the Amish.

What didn’t you like about it?

We use ours a ton. Steaks, finishing ribs, burgers, brats, dogs, veggie packs...u name it!

I burnt my hand on it every time we used it. That damn thumb screw never felt like it held strong enough either. I never had it slip, but I worried about it every time.

Gotcha. Comes with an oven mit now which is great for changing height while hot...so maybe you were the only one. Ours never failed, and I’ve had tons of weight on it. There certainly are more solid models though.

I just searched online for 30 minutes and couldn’t find a pic of the one I want. Must be a local custom thing...it’s cast iron and basically fully adjustable. Has a huge cooking grill grate, you can also hang pots or use a skillet tray. Pretty bad ass and easy to take care of. Only downside is how heavy it is.

Ahhhhh, Im definitely itching for camping season to be begin! I was just in our camper the other week and all was good. Went in last weekend and I see we had a visitor enjoying some acorns inside in a few different locations. This is one of the reasons I like having the camper right outside in the drive. Got it cleaned up and checked to see if there was any chewing on anything.

Had her open today airing out with the canopy and nascar race going on the radio. Im ready for 60* weather and campfires.
