Nice find buckstar! Love all the attachments that you have for it. Good luck tilling and keep us posted on the results.

I just found a free 1969 Sears Suburban 12 with a plow for his winter. Looking forward to getting it home and ready for when the snow flys. I'm tired of shoveling 131' of driveway :(

Those clumps you see are rolled up wads of poison ivy roots/vines. I am paying for it but it was worth it. We forgot the rake so it was manual taking to get the biggest part of the ivy trash cleaned up.

Tractor and tiller worked like they were supposed to. We made one rough pass with tiller raised up then another to depth so it took a little longer but we had no issues other than dad tryin to use it as a stump grinder which resulted in a stalled tractor!

Planted oats, winter rye, and purple top turnips and we got it in before the rain and hopefully the seed is still there! We used a drag to bed the seed and finished it off with 12-12-12 fertilizer.

Here are a couple videos I took during the day.

Purple Tops came in really good, only planted a small patch and didn't really think about how small the seed was! Rye is doin a bit better and the oats are struggling. We forgot the rake and all we had was a chain drag. All in all I'm pretty happy with the plot so far. Gonna over seed with turnips tomorrow.

Gonna overseed this weekend with dwarf essex rape, anybody have any experience with it? I couldn't get triple 12 fertilizer so went with the 15. Should I rough up the plot before I seed it?

I wouldn't rough it up if you are overseeding an area. I wouldn't risk damaging the growth you already have. Any small seeds like rape will grow fine sitting on top if you get the right conditions. The rain will settle them where they need to go.

I'd be happy with the start that plot has.

Ok, hopefully we can get it done Friday and be done with it. I am just happy we got it in! And yeah, when we walked up on it I was very happy, just didn't realize the turnips could have been spread a little bit more! Haha

Dwarf Essex is down, triple 15 is down now I can relax till season. Does are already hittin it pretty regular so hopefully we can keep them around. Not enough rain today to wet the ground so we'll see how it does. The deer are killing the trefoil and chicory right now though

Forgot to get pics but plot is doing pretty good, a little slower than I expected but everything has come up. Overseed was a good decision, the Rape is filling in nicely and the deer are going to the plot before the head back out to big field to feed.

Not the fullest plot but we are pretty happy with the results.

Got the Yanmar out and gave her a good workout. We blew a seal on the tiller and replaced it, blew another one doing the plot so I'm thinking its a bad bearing.

Last years plot was a disaster! We timed the planting perfect for rain and ended getting a monsoon! Repeat again this year!! I gave up on turnips, I ran a test for 2 straight years and the deer on our place never touched them. They preferred clover and rye to anything else. The only deer we had eating a turnip was one I had cut up and set in front of the cam. This year we planted all clover, brasicas, lettuce, Austrian winter peas, and rye. Here are a few pics of the plot.

Anyone had any experience planting peas? Kept clogging the spreader and we didn't get near the coverage we should have with 15lbs. I think the mistake I made was telling them to mix the seed together.

Looking good there. I planted 1/2 ac. Evolved Harvest Beans and Peas in 2013. The plants came up 3-4 in. and the deer moved in one weekend and ate every plant. Won't plant anymore.
I sorta gave up on turnips to. The deer in 2013 didn't eat one bulb but ate the whole acre of tops. This years turnips, radish, and beets didn't take. What seed I have left I think I will plant with Winter Greens in 2015.
