Damn bud. Good thing you had jack stands under it. I don't screw around with scissor or bottle jacks, too fuggin slow and make me nervous. I just use a floor jack then lower it on stands. I find if i can get the vehicle up and down quickly with minimal effort i'm far more likely to set the vehicle on stands than try to leave it on the jack with stands there to catch it just in case

I had to have the weight on the jack a bit just for clearance to get the tires on/off. Couldn't jack higher to move the stands up one more spot (even being blocked).
Just had this same situation changing out front rotars and pads, but I wasn't under the Jeep or in the well. I get it.

I have the Harbor Freight aluminum "Quick Jack" and have really liked it. But, I put the vehicle 1/2 way onto the jack stands also.

No offense intended Charles: But "It should be OK" got a lot of men killed. (We've all done it Brother)
