Thanks guys. It was a great morning. Not the buck I was looking for but after years of no buck down it made me feel good to finally put a tag on one. It was opening morning and I was sitting in a spot where we had been getting pictures of a big 8pt. But after seeing this buck and knowing he was on the hit list cause he was mature and not a buck we wanted breeding I decided that I better take him while the getten was good. Shot him at 60 yards and watched him fall about 70 yards away. While gutting him some does popped out of the woods so I grabbed my gun and shot me a doe to. Thanks to Dave for starting this tread. After texting him a few times I can tell he is a real good guy. He said he had not seen a deer. I wished him good luck and he replied that it was not about the deer, It was the time with the people at deer camp that he loved. That really hit home for me as all of the deer camps ive been part of over the years are all gone now. When I lived in Ohio my place was the deer camp. But after I moved back to Michigan it has not been the same. I have a great place to hunt but the tradition is gone. My goal is to find that tradition again some how. Good luck to all of you guys.
