One of my coworkers had a little mishap. Stopped at a fellas house to ask permission to hunt. Found out it was a retired dentist who happened to know his girlfriend who was a dental hygienist. Also found out said dentist needed some welding done on his tractor..... my coworker happens to be an excellent welder. Permission was granted for an excellent hunting area. The newly-acquired friends talked for another 15 or 20 minutes before parting. When my coworker put the truck in reverse to leave he ran over the landowners dog and killed it! The landowner assured my coworker it was an accident but would still leave feelings rough between people.

I've done it to my own dog. I'm sure he is shook up. I felt like the most worthless piece of garbage ever. Accidents happen but you still feel horrible. Sorry for your friend.
