Ammo for deer hunting

The other day I got to thinking about deer gun season
I plan on using my Marlin 45/70

I have a lot of plinking ammo loaded ....err all my brass is loaded with 11 gr of Unique and a cast bullet
Not a deer hunting load

So I called the gun shop to order some
Well he called his normal supplyers and no luck
Only stuff any of them had was Corebond high $$ ammo or cowboy loads

So I did some looking online
Even most online places didn't have much or any 45/70 ammo
I finaly found the Federal 300 gr HP ammo that the rifle likes
But that took looking at 11 places

So if you plan on using your rifle this fall

I wouldn't wait till right before season to find ammo
As it might be tough to find the exact load you are looking for

Using Hornady Leverevolution in 325 gr FTX. Seems a good load. Also have Black Hills Ammunition in 405 gr FPL. Seems a little less recoil. Both shoot well.
