No problem, pleasure is all mine. Part of my “reflecting” this year. Some things I need to change in order to capture moments and not be so selfish about. I want one of my walls in my future man cave to be nothing but pictures.

My dad always seems to take pictures of the dog and me so he's never in them. I drag him along on almost all my hunts and it's great having him there. He used to deer hunt a little but quit before I was old enough. I decided waterfowl hunting looked fun so I taught myself by reading, watching videos and getting out in the field. It's weird teaching your dad something.

Sadly, my dad was never much into hunting. We've hunted a few times together and fished a few times together. Luckily I have several uncles who are avid outdoorsmen who started this spark that grew into an out of control blaze. Lol. Most of my hunts are solo.

Not the best quality but this is me and my dad with a deer I shot in 08. This thread makes me realize how few pictures I have with my dad hunting when compared to the fact that we use to hunt together all the time when I lived at home.

Was that one of them shriveled up nut sac bucks that still had velvet?

Had to rip this pic from another site.

It was a great morning! November 6th 2009. The summer before I just bought me and my pops two Hoyt Vectrics off of AT and the xbows where hung up.

Cold frosty morning. I rattled in the buck I shot right off the bat about 30 minutes after shooting light. I hit him a bit further back then id like. Liver/guts. He did the hole tail tuck slow walk away. I was worried he was bedded down close so sat till 11.

Finally snuck outta there to a happy pops. He was covered in deer all morning and shot his buck around 8am and followed it up with a Doe around 10am. He was pumped.

I remember him and the land owner listening to my story and saying 'that deer has to be dead, let's go get him'.

I was persistent on backing out, so we did. Made the 40 minute drive home.......

.....shit, just remembered this part! Ha.------ we got pulled over by the state highway patrol as soon as we hit a highway. Pops was already celebrating and had a 'road Soda' in hand after shooting the shit with my friend/landowner. I believe I got a ticket for a seat belt and that was it. I remember my dad being like 'that asshole, a seat belt ticket, f that guy, not stealing our thunder' while I thought 'that could have been a lot worse'. [emoji23]

Got home, killed some time till about 3-4. Drove back to the spot and recovered my buck a couple hundred yards or so away from impact. I believe he bedded down twice. Hardly any blood but my buddies German shepherd never strayed from the trail.

The party commenced! Ha. Man, that was a fun day, night, turned weekend!

This is the last hunt me and my dad went on. 2010 Manitoba whitetail. He was 76yrs old then I think. Being from Pennsylvania dad shot few mature bucks, but some. He couldn't hold off on the first morning and shot this 10pt. Big body, nice buck, he was ecstatic with it, as I was. I heard him shoot and lucky for me, found him standing over it. Great times for sure. Last Thanksgiving we went home to celebrate with family. While there dad said he was done hunting. My brother, sister and me could divide his guns, bows, etc. He was 82. Wanna talk about a bittersweet moment!! Many tears shed that night, on the 8hr drive home, and once I was home and really thought about it. Mom and dad are still doing well and dad loves to hear about my brother and my adventures. Lots of memories with the old man. Many fine huntin stories to go along with them.

Great job Giles for bringing this great thread back up. It’s these men that we looked up to during our youth that planted the seeds of our love for spending time in the great outdoors that God has provided for us with family and friends.

I have zero pics of me and my dad when he took me hunting, wish I did.

Me either, my old man hates hunting and fishing, bitched and swore at me every time I killed a deer or fish because of the mess I made lol (i think he has closet OCD.... He always was the first to help and secretly think he loved helping me, just that old skool way I guess.
