Great job Giles for bringing this great thread back up. It’s these men that we looked up to during our youth that planted the seeds of our love for spending time in the great outdoors that God has provided for us with family and friends.

Roots, brother, gotta remind ourselves from time to time.

My fathers first turkey in 1981, Me and my father on opening morning in Indiana, and My brother father and me with my fathers best deer he ever killed.

I miss him, he started me hunting with him at a very young age. He died 9 years ago at 86 after a long and terrible battle with Alzheimer and Parkinsons

Wow did I ever fail at this this year...I did get to hunt with my old man one morning this gun season. I woke up really early excited to get the year started with him. Waited a couple of hours before waking him up for our 2 hour drive to Athens.

Got there about 30 minutes before legal shooting time and made the best of it. I only hunted next to him for about 30 minutes before I got my first text to help drag[emoji23]. For years some of these guys would come help me, so I didn’t mind at all stopping my hunt to go help. Back before phones, this guy would hear me shoot and start heading my way. Damn nice fella he is.

I got a little upset and gave myself a timeout on the hillside. Just after I took this pic I heard a shot come from dads direction.

I text him and didn’t get an answer. So I sat right until I heard the quad fire up. I slowly started working my way back to the barn lot and arrived about the same time he did.

We loaded up the deer and headed back to my house. Tried to stop and see Jon, but didn’t see his truck in the parking lot, so we kept rolling.

Getting up for work the next morning wasn’t easy! Lol

Great pics guys..Thanks for sharing. Nothing like spending time in the great outdoors with Dad. My Dad was into hunting, fishing and trapping.. I'll have to dig up some old pics and scan them sometime in the near future. All I can say is for those of you that still have your Dad around, enjoy every day with him as it ends all too quickly.
