Homework Assignment

Yesterday, during science I decided to give a little biology lesson about what deer like to eat. We discussed apples vs pears... white oaks vs red oaks, etc...

So, I told the kids that anyone who had any of these things in their yards and weren't using them (apples, pears) feel free to bag them up and bring them in for a "homework pass".

This morning I got 3 bags of apples from 3 diferent students from trees in their yard. Bam!

Others said they are bringing in tomorrow or in a few days. I'm holding out hope for pears and white acorns. :smiley_clap:

The moral of the story? Employ your neighbor kids!

Nice! I used to have a Natural Resource teacher that was huge, he had a 95lb long bow and would give anyone who could draw it completely an A for the entire year... No one ever did it.

Ohhh... good one!

Ya know, it's really sad if you think about it. We have very few kids who hunt anymore. The stuff I get sidetracked talking about is the only time these kids will be exposed to anything remotely hunting related. Some of the kids actually start asking lots of questions about deer behavior and terms. I've brought in sheds, deer skulls, coyote skulls, squirrel tails, etc... and put them on display so the kids can see them upclose and pick them up.
