Well a few days ago. I decided to throw one of the trail cams out. I didn't have any D batteries on hand, so I went with the wildview which takes c's. Now last year My great aunt had given me a bunch of old canned food her former husband had bought in the 70's for a bomb shelter! lol It was like corn meal, whole wheat, peanut butter powder, alaskan peas, and all kinds of other vegetables. I figured what the heck, and I took it all....lol Now last year I had used up all the corn meal, and stuff. The deer loved it. Anyways I decided to just throw out a couple cans of the whole wheat with a cam over it. Just a couple days out, and I had 396 pics. Four different bucks. Here are a few pics. lil buck.JPGsmall buck.JPGtall81.JPGtall83.JPGwide8.JPGwide820.JPGwide823.JPG

Yea the wide 8 isn't too bad for an 8 point. I'm thinking he is 4 1/2 years old. I've got pictures the last 2 years, and he hasn't seemed to gain alot. I'm thinking he will be a good one for my daughter to take out of the herd....lol These are pics of him at 3 1/2....I think...What do you guys think? Is this him last year? wide 8.JPGwide 8 5.JPGwide 8 2.JPGwide 8 3.JPGwide 8 1.JPGwide 8 6.JPGwide 8 4.JPG

Got some new bucks to show up in the last couple days. Its usually about this time of year I start getting a bunch of pics of bucks. This is an 8 point we call cowlick. Look at the mark on the back of his neck. We have been watching this deer since he was a 1 1/2. Can anybody guess how old he is now? Dad found both of his sheds last year.

I'd say 3.5 maybe 4.5 but not any older. It's nice to see the velvetless pics start showing up. Thanks for sharing.

The 8 point we call cowlick in the pics above is 5.5 years old. We have pictures of him since 2.5 years old. He just isn't ever going to have a big rack. At 2.5 He was about 110-120" 9 point. At 3.5 he was about a 125" 9 point, and at 4.5 he turned into an 8. Dad found both sheds from him at 4.5, and He scored like 129". This year he is an 8 again. Looks like he'll be right around 130ish again. His rack has been almost identical each year, except for the g4 he had at 2.5, and 3.5. Also we can tell its him by the big "cowlick" on his back. We have a really big probably 150-160" 8 point running around this year. I'd hate to shoot cowlick when there is a bigger one running around, but we decided since he was 5.5 and evidently never going to get any bigger he could be shot this year. I have pics of him through the years, but they are on my dads old computer. I'll have to see if I can get them all loaded up in order. Its really cool to be able to see the same buck for that many years in a row.

I went back thru all your pics and can see in some of them he has a noticeable sway in his back, big body and belly sag as well. I totally missed that a mile! Lol

Yea if I didn't have pictures of him since he was 2.5. I would probably guess him at 3.5-4.5. His body is really big though. I seen him last year, and I was guessing he would field dress close to 200 last year. Trail cams can kinda fool ya on body size. I figured he would have made a bigger leap in antler size this year. Evidently he is at his peak. I mean really he hasn't gained much in the last 3 years.....If your going for antler size he's not the kind of buck you want breeding your does. So he's on the hit list for sure.
