Excuse my ignorance here as it’s pretty well known about my turkey hunting skills...[emoji23]

What is the point of the call if you have them pinpointed before you ever go in the woods? I’ve read on here before about not setting up within 100 yards of the roost, but if you know what direction they are going...why even call at all, let them walk to ya.

Why pile corn if you know where the deer bed and go when they leave? Cause it increases your odds. Same with calling turkeys. And just because you have a scouting report, doesn't mean a wild animal is going to be consistent day in day out.

On the other property I was actually hunting for deer after being set up in the blind...about an hour or so the hens would come out same way toward me everytime but no jakes.

Because i don't care how good a caller you are if you're not in his area of operation the odds of you calling that Tom somewhere he doesn't want to be is slim to none. Especially if he is with a hen or 10. There are only a few rare instances per season where a tom is completely alone and susceptible to being called a good distance to a lone hen call. This is usually for a day maybe two after his hens are all done and they go to their nest first thing instead of to him. After a day or two of no hens showing up the tom moves on to find another group of hens.

But even when you are setup between the roost and the place they want to go to doesn't mean they're going to take the same trail or even a direct route. This is where calling comes in, get the hens to come your way. Our goal is to set up really close to the roost and convince the tom to pitch to our decoys not to another hen or location. I don't buy the don't get too close thing. We try to find the tom in the tree in the dark and set the decoys within 50 yards in his line of sight. If we haven't killed the tom within 5 minutes of his feet hitting the ground the odds of killing him that morning goes way down. Like less than 10% chance down.

I just wanted to support your fledgling business. I really appreciate your craftsmanship.
Not sure how much I will even hunt this year as I am recovering from a knee replacement. I used to run and gun but those days are over so I might try a ground blind decoys.
