    Usta go a lot

Like the title says, I used to go fishing a lot and really havenít the last couple of years. This year I plan to change that and get back into it. All 3 of my kids love it but I started to not enjoy going. Partly because they were little and a royal pain to deal with and the other part was picking up everyone elseís trash.

Kids are old enough now to deal with. Iím pretty sure Iíll still be carrying an empty trash bag in with me and filling it up. Thatís just something Iím going to have to deal with. Watching the Amish have total disregard for any rules or regs also bugged me. Iím gonna try real hard to let this stuff go and get back to enjoying the fishing.

The idea of a boat has crossed my mind...

Not real sure where Iím going with all this, just trying to air it out I guess. I plan to go out this weekend below a spilllway in search of some Saugeye. Been a couple years since Iíve done that. Thinking itíll be a good way to ease back into it.

Anyone else fight these issues? If so, how do you deal with them? Trying to find a way to fish and enjoy it again. Not be pissed off the entire time.

Creek fishing in our neck of the woods can be phenomenal. Few people to deal with too. The spillway is not the place to find tranquility but crappie and channel cat fishing can be great down there if you hit the flow just right. Rocky is a Great Lake for crappie and saugeye, bass fishing too. Particularly if you have a boat ( like the one I'll soon be selling). .

Since we got our camp in SE Ohio, I have done more fishing than I have since I was a kid. Ultra-light poles catching smallmouth is a blast. You seldom get anything larger than 12", but on a couple of pound test those smallmouth are alot of fun.

I usta fish a lot, too. when I started building bows, I pretty much stopped fishing aside from wading the North Fork of the Licking river and an occasional trip with my bud in his boat for Saugeye here locally, Erie for Walleye. have not had fish in my freezer since 2014 aside from the wild caught salmon I hoard from Costco when it's in season.

I have not wet a line since 2014. One thing I always loved but haven't made the time for it. I think that is going to have to change this year. Time to get back to fishing therapy.

Steelhead fishing in the rivers is a blast if your close to one that runs out into Lake Erie.

I should be making that drive a lot this year. Y'all are welcome any time.
Last February was pretty good at the spillway, Giles. Lots of crappie and saugeye hauled out of there. Bobby Garlands under a float is pretty hard to beat down there. If you choose to forget the float, you will tie a lot of jigs.

Guess I am blessed Giles, I live not even 5 minutes to the river and probably 15 - 20 minutes to other spots. I love fly fishing for those Steel Heads.

Last year was the first time I've fished in years. I wanted to get the kids involved in something outdoors and they really enjoy it. When I take them I just know I'm not going to be doing that much fishing. If I want to do some fishing I leave the kids at home.

How about we plan a mid to late April weekend. Hopefully it will warm up a little by then. Crappie fishing should be decent as well.
