Yes sir that’s a fact see real country boys see things a lot alike , I know they do it for the money , But if I was labeled as a pro hunter , you’d think you would wanna impress those folks reading or watching by your skill set tricks experience etc scouting and hunting not a over paid salesman hunting is taking a new trend glad my kids aren’t going down that path

well I got one as a gift one year and Ill tell you I have not had a deer blow at me since I started using it. I have had deer upwind, down wind, etc. I really believe it works. My cousin also had got one as a gift the same year as me, and he has had the same results as me as far as not getting busted by deer.

I’m not saying they don’t work, I’m saying other methods work good enough for me. Personally, I’d like to have one for my vehicles and camper. Those take on some smells at times that open windows just ain’t enough, lol.

I hear ya buddy! I probably wouldn't have bought one with cold hard cash but since I got one for a gift and I really like it now that I got to try it, I would buy again or save up gift cards and buy more in that arena.

Ive read good reviews on them , I just think there’s other ways like Giles said I’ve been reading a lot about guys getting mad about it tearing up their clothes but who knows

I am a believer in scent look clothes (i buy mine on sale either black friday or late febuary), but activate them put them in bags with leafs and pine needles then store them in regular $5 totes outside my shed. I feel like I can basically hunt upwind, down wind etc. with almost no problems. I personally will never buy the ozonics or the special totes, closets etc. and would never pay pull price for scent control close, when I buy scent control clothes they are almost same price as regular camo.

All hunters including pros and novices have gotten within close bow range long before ozonics and scent loc products by just playing the wind. Problem is people can’t capitalize on that or make money by marketing it. I personally just washing my clothes in unsented soap or baking soda, smoke my clothes and try my best to hunt downwind from where I expect the deer to come through. I personally feel if you just hunt DW and we’re able to access your stand or blind undetected while not laying down unnatural scent by wearing rubber boots and touching as little understory as possible you’ve done enough to put yourself in position to be successful.

It’s all about money and sponsorships to help pay the bills.

I'm with these guys. I do appreciate a first hand review though AT. I just can't see spending the money on the gadgets myself. I'll keep doing what I'm doing. It seems to have worked okay so far. Our freezer is full.

o no hard feelings here guys! I mean I killed a lot of deer before it and I have killed a lot with it. As I said, the only thing I have noticed, especially on our farm in SE Ohio the deer BLOW and BLOW a lot when they wind you. I used to be sitting in the stand and hear a damn deer blow down in the bottom as the wind swirled, I haven't heard a deer blow at me in 2 years. Maybe I just learned the deer movement better, maybe I just am getting lucky. I am not sure, but when my cousin's results mimicked mine I felt sold.

All that being said, I aint buying another bag or OZONE gadget! I got the ones for free as a gift, and I will keep using them!

Built my own, pretty cheaply too. Do they work? Yes. They will take a lot of scent out of your clothes when you are away from the shower a few days at camp. As far as tricking a deer's nose? It can substantially reduce your odor and is a smell deer are used to, like after thunder storms for example. But you will still be detectable to that nose which can track tens of thousands more times then you or I. Oh, and they can differentiate smells as well, tracking multiple smells simultaneously. My personal experience? I think it might fool deer into thinking you are farther away then you actually are in areas of close deer/human proximity. Are they worth the effort to pack in, set up and operate? Perhaps, but you better be carrying a decent battery if you want to hunt more than a 2 to 3 hour stretch.

I've been fortunate enough to harvest some nice whitetail bucks lately, but not while hunting with my portable ozone machine running yet. I will say I haven't been scent busted by downwind deer when it's been running either. That is at least by the ones I've seen down wind...

Here are my last 2 bucks. The mounted one is from 2016. They rack I'm holding up is from this past season in 2017. It came one year to the day, hour, minute and about 300 yards from the 2016 buck. Guess I'm more fortunate then proficient. Thank you Lord!

If anyone wants info on how to build one for under $100, just ask. A decent battery will cost you another $30 or so.

Thanks Giles and Dustib80.

The key to building these is to find the parts needed. All can be found on Amazon and E-bay. There is a guy on E-bay that even sells the plans to build them, or you can buy his kit or his pre soldered kit there. What are they? An on/off switch, a small computer type fan to keep things cool, an ozone plate with transformer, a connector to run the electricity through the switch to the fan and the ozone plate with transformer, a 12v battery, and a box to hold the stuff.

I will post a picture of mine later.

Issues you will face. Small batteries don't last long. Most of them come from China and while all marked the same capacity, they don't all perform the same- even from the same source. You will want your wires from the battery to connect easily to the unit via a universal plug, which you will also want to connect the same way to your recharging source. I took a 110v to 12v plug and wire set up with the same universal quick connect to match everything, so I can charge the batteries or run the unit from a wall outlet so I can de-scent my clothes at home in a closet or at camp in a shower stall. I also took a cigarette lighter adapter charging wire set up so I can run the unit in the vehicle to de-scent the vehicle as well as charge the battery on the go! Adaptability is the key!

For most folks, just go to E-bay and buy the plans or kit from him. Here is the link, and no it is not me, nor am I a part of his food chain. You might save an additional $20 bucks by gathering the stuff yourself. But if you aren't an 8 year old tech savvy kind of person who programs all my electronics for me since I can't even turn on the tv any more...he has already saved you most of the cost.

Mine is remarkable similar to his. These are the type of batteries he uses:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/DC12V-9800...ery-Pack-JB-/322790009017?hash=item4b27c8a8b9

But they only last 2-4 hours. They are light to carry, but I just went from them to this and it lasts me all day:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mighty-Max...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

It's cheaper but weighs 4 pounds maybe? I hunt mostly from ground blinds though. The ozone machine itself might weigh a pound if that.

I'll take some pictures of mine and put them up soon for ya all.

So here are the pictures. Another consideration is these things are not waterproof so you will need to address that also. Again I usually hunt from a ground blind. Remember too that ozone is not good to breath either! I put mine on the downwind side of my blind.

Anyways, here are the pictures!

Yes that is a small plastic food container.

The blue thing is a 9800 mAh battery pack with an on/off switch as well as male and female connectors. It lasts about 2.5 hours on average in cold weather. 10000 mAh=1 amp hour. These are the same batteries folks use to run camcorders.

The black battery is like you use with fish finders. I do anyways. It lasts me all day usually and the blue becomes back up.

I have attached an adjustable strap for going around a tree or in my blind and use velcro to hold the batteries to the plastic box. I could use less velcro for sure and the sticky backing doesn't like to stay stuck so use super glue.

I didn't show the cigarette lighter adapter as it is with my underwater camera. But it is a cigarette lighter plug attached to a wire attached to post mounts for the battery.

Ask questions if you like.

Some folks would do well to just spend the money on another game camera, and:

You can learn a lot about "down wind" by releasing milk weed fuzz when you are in the woods. They are free, abundant and will show you thermals as well as wind swirls. Bucks make their lively hood staying in the areas of thermal and wind swirl reversal areas. You may be winning the prevailing wind game but losing to the thermals or the terrain caused wind swirls. The milk weed you release into the prevailing wind often comes back up the woods in the thermal or the terrain caused wind swirl and you would never know that from the powder or feather method of wind monitoring. There are places I hunt using thee anomalies to my favor. It will also help you find the bedding and staging areas. Why do you think they stage in the first place? It isn't just low light they wait for as they stage before entering their beds in the morning, it's the thermals and the terrain features that turn upwind areas into downwind areas. Why do you hunt edges? Because deer love edges! They aren't just escape features, they are wind reversal features as well. Smart bucks j hook into their bedding area so they can scent check it first. then they lay watching their back trail looking down wind as they use their nose to watch their back. But to get there they often have to go down wind to go up wind. Otherwise all the bucks would be in the Pacific ocean. They stage on the way down wind in areas where they can wait for the wind reversal that makes down wind temporarily up wind. But running late during the rut, and being tired, and hungry, and horney, they make mistakes.
