My dad shot a nice buck this morning but he said he hit him high in the shoulder. The arrow didn't pass through and the blood is extremely sparse for 75 yards and then it dissapears. Any thoughts on what we should do? Is the shot fatal?

Doesn't sound real good. But you never know! I would be searching the land high and low for him.

What made you want to get up and go look for nuts?

Because I figured there's more to nuts than reading what you guys are doing.

Actually, I wanted to walk around a bit since I really haven't been to that part of the property since day one back in February. There's a ladder stand there that I know doesn't belong to the neighboring owner & wanted to see if it's still there. It is & I can tell it hasn't been used in years. Lots more scrapes, rubs & I just happened to look down & see that acorn. I'm back home now, I'll be back this evening. Good luck !

Good encounter with a young buck. 2 button bucks were cracking skulls on each other. Only saw 1 doe. Pretty mellow. Was expecting more.

Sat from sun up to sundown seen 9 does and a spike, I can't even see a basket rack. In the same stand today and had 4 does come through, nothing tailing. I'm wondering if there's been a poaching problem down here.

Sounds like lock down to me? He’ll get if her and look for a new one, keep after it. Them does WILL get bred.

I shot my buck at 7:50 and seen a lone big doe 15 minutes later in the same spot as the buck. Left at 9:00 and seen no other deer. I was expecting more movement.

Must be the morning for follies....

Yea, that seems appropriate. I biffed in the marsh this morning. Stepped into a rat run and ate it...face first... Then breast-stroked like Micheal Phelps as the water poured into my waders. Right at first light too. So there I stood, waders full of water for the next 2 hours. Lol. Fun times. [emoji23]

Dam that could have been serious and glad you only got cold wet.

Saw nothing all day yesterday, so I figured I'd wait till after lunch today. Bumped 3 does on my way in, been quiet other than that. Except for the dudes hunting pheasants.... Doubt I'll see anything else till dusk

Thankfully we were in a good spot and the guys I took out there shot well. Neoprene stays pretty warm but I could tell by 8:00 my body temp was dropping... Feet and hands were getting very, very cold. Just in time to leave the marsh and get warmed up!

We got set up a little over an hour ago for our 3rd hunt together this season. Best day weather wise this past week imo.

Good luck everyone and congrats to everyone that tagged one this past week!:smiley_clap:

Just got in the stand at 1:38, bow still on ground as I was starting to put on my outer layer and get everything situated when I caught movement. 2 big does and smaller one fed to 55yrds and turned north. One kept looking back and here come 6 hens lol.

Let everything work thru and finished getting comfy. Decided it was a good time to crack one of these and enjoy being warm for a bit.

So far things have the makings of an epic afternoon. Good luck to all that r out.

JB, glad you didn’t break an ankle, but I woulda given a lot to see ya go down. Lots of fond memories with my cousins and our issues back in the day trying to get things setup in Pickerellmao
