You click on the Squirrel Hunting tab and.....

"Red, gray, fox, and black squirrels are legal game. Hours are 30 minutes before sunrise to sunset. Closed during the seven-day deer gun season, Nov. 27 - Dec. 3, 2017. "

Well I can’t imagine what in the world someone was doing ggoing throughthe woods shooting a 22 every five minutes... I mean besides trespassing

One of my guys went to Tar Hollow today. He was amazed by the number of people moving deer around. Said it was nuts. Gun shots everywhere. Said he is going to hunt my 7.6acre patch tomorrow. Lol

6 days of gun hunting. All I got was sinus infection. Saw 4-6 deer a day, no shooters. I’ve been picky trying build up our doe herd on my property and neighbors (we agree..). I may end up shooting a small buck for meat. I did enjoy my week of hunting, I heard less shooting than normal, in my northeast Athens Co area. Still have my regulars on camera as of today, glad they hung around! My brother in law did however shoot a brute of a 10 pt at 3 pm Tuesday on a friends place that I farm.

This deer season, I seen 2 deer on the hoof. Sad

Opening day I thought maybe we seen an increase finally. After a week of failure, that first day was a pocket of hope. Today a friend of mine and I took his son hunting and showed him how we grew up hunting. Back when deer were to and far between, you made the most of the moment. We had an absolute blast! Showed that kid a tradition that even I had forgotten about.

I will add the best evening of hunting my 6 year old tagged along. We saw a Mom with a tag along doe and button buck, a spike and a beautiful 4 point with a dark chocolate rack (fingers crossed, 2 years). He absolutely had a blast. He hunted 2 days this week and is always up for hunting.

I saw and heard more rut activity yesterday evening than I did all of bow season.

In the morning I sat from sunup to 11:00. Evening from 2-dark. Saw total of 9 doe, a 4 point and a spike.

Heard a chase around 3:00. Few minutes later the 4 point was chasing a doe past me. Right at dark, heard another chase and a grunt. Never did see the buck that grunted as I ran out of daylight. Pretty sure it wasn't the 4 point again because he travelled in the opposite direction from where the second action took place. But never know.

I saw more from Monday - Sunday then 10/28-first 2 weeks of November as well. I didn’t hunt the each day in those date ranges, but my observations this past week killed the earlier days.
