So it appears as though the wonderful people over at Photobucket have decided to start charging their users to link images. If you upload an image to Photobucket and try to post the IMG tags here you will receive the lovely notification below.
While we believe that everyone has a right to run their business the way that they see fit, we see this as an absolute shit move by Photobucket.
Actions such as these cause considerable issues on sites such as ours. For example let's say one of our users post a very informative thread with pictures they uploaded to photobucket. The images show up because that user is paying Photobuckets ransom. 2 years from now the user decides to stop paying Photobucket their monthly fees and all of a sudden a very informative and helpful thread has all of its images ripped out from under it. To a user who is searching online trying to find information and who may come across that thread it is largely useless without the images.
It is for that reason that once our site upgrade is complete we will no longer allow the posting of images from Photobucket regardless if the user pays photobuckets monthly ransom.
As a reminder you are always welcome to upload images directly to TheOhio Outdoors. The new version of the site will even have a pretty fancy album structure.
This article gives quite a few alternatives to Photobucket. We are not promoting them and I have not actually used them myself. However if you are looking for an alternative this would be a good place to start.
