Long couple days. Dad was transferred to a nursing home with a rehab wing yesterday. He has been a bit confused and ignored. Told then he was having chest pains last night. They gave him a nitro. That was Friday night. Saturday at 6ish he again told them he was having chest pains. He had to argue with them to get checked out. We have been in the ER since 630-7pm. It is now after 1am Sunday morning. He seems to be okay but we haven't had an update in nearly 3hrs. After sitting at a soccer tournament today with a trip home to take the dog to the vet between games ($342 yippie), I'm ready for bed. I did manage to get a nice homemade lasagna dinner for my birthday last night. Be nice to get dad shipped back to the nursing home if he is okay. We have to be at the soccer tournament again tomorrow along with nursing a sick dog and checking on my parents. I think I am ready for a mental vacation right now.

2am. Being transported back to nursing home. Good news: must have been indigestion or maybe some anxiety or angina. Heart checked out okay. Due to confusion they did a CT scan and it looked good. No new masses on the brain. No clots. Said the healing was looking good.

Good to hear he's still moving forward Phil.
Its a long road so do the best you can to pace yourself.

That's great news! Glad the ticker is doing just fine and the healing is going as expected. How's the soccer going? Happy birthday! (I hate lasagna, gross)

Thanks for the b-day wishes and for the continued thoughts and prayers.

Soccer is done. Boys were better than the team they played this morning. The other team played a better game. Complacency isn't going to win a tournament. Got to bring their A game.

Glad you don't like lasagna Dave. More for me. lmao

Hank still not eating or drinking a ton. He will eat bananas so that is his current diet with a few nibbles of his dog food when he feels like it. Seems to be a little better. Hope he turns around soon. I hate vet bills. I hate sick dogs. Poor guy needs to get his stomach thing turned around.

Rented our only empty house today. Bidding on another fixer upper house at auction Wednesday. Starting some new guys this week to help with the work load on the mowing/landscaping end of things. Told my foreman keep overtime down but authorized some overtime if it means we are getting caught up.

Life is busy. In the big scheme of things, life is good. These are all first world problems. (Some self inflicted because I keep a ton of irons in the fire.) In a third world country my father would have never received the heart repairs 10-12yrs ago and wouldn't be here to deal with the brain cancer. It is all a matter of perspective. We have good doctors and care in this country even if our healthcare system is jacked up. Does this still suck? Yep. It could be much worse though. As stated, a day at a time.

Dang Phil! Sorry to hear how much you've had to deal with over the past several days! Glad to hear that your dads heart and brain functions are recovering though.

Keep on keeping and hope you can find some time for some mental relaxation in the near future....sounds like you guys could use it! Thoughts and prayers continue buddy!

Quick update. Dad is still in the rehabilitation facility aka nursing home. We have had some issues. Not sure it is uncommon. I believe all nursing homes share some of the issues we are dealing with. Some are not acceptable. Last night dad fell out of bed. Stitch in his chin, a cracked tooth, some bruises. We aren't real happy about this but not sure anyone is to blame. Just a new possibility with the situation my dad is facing.

Radiation started yesterday. Chemo will start soon. Rehab continues. Confusion has been getting worse. (Which began prior to rad/chemo). We meet with his neurosurgeon Monday to discuss many things.
