I'm glad some of you are still getting things done. This is the the time I stay out and let the fawns grow. Kinda bummed I never put the card back in my cam out back, oh well.

Last year I bought a house that sits on just under 6 acres. The back three is mostly overgrown grass and shrub trees. I put in a small plot with a smaller rear tine tiller within a couple of weeks of getting the keys. I also ran a bait/mineral site consisting of mineral blocks, fruit from the trees out front and bags of corn. I managed to take a good mature doe in the first two weeks of the season. I filled my buck tag down at one of redhunters farms, and wouldn't you know it, I started getting some good ones on camera, some of which showed themselves frequently during day light. This year I added an additional food plot and a 3 sided plot screen. I plan to have the plots seeded in the next month. One plot will consist of brassicas, triticale, oats, winter wheat and clover. The other will be winter bulbs and sugar beets. The plot screen is Egyptian wheat and is already over knee high. I will be giving it a dose of urea very soon. I don't plan on hunting out back often, but I wanted to tinker with some plots since I can't do it on the farms I hunt. The chance of killing a city limits stud is definitely possible so I will monitor the cams closely. Plus it's nice just to watch the deer from the house.

Great idea and nice work! You might even go Ted Miller on it and add a scrape tree with licking branch back there TOO. Maybe even a horizontal rub with camera over both. Just a thought.

I bush hogged my food plot today. 1 ac of it has a knee high crop of clover on it. Will be a shame to till under for a fall plot. I'll look at it in a week or so and make a decision.
Kicked up a nice fawn out of the weeds I mowed off. Couple passes later I see a tan color object laying on the other end of the field where I seen the fawn run out. Damn I ran over a fawn.
But no I get there and it's just the cow scull from the butcher in Feb.
Seen some half grown rabbits.
Going down tomorrow and mow the clover plots after I make sure the tractor radiator is clean.

On another note my one cow had a late calf yesterday on my granddaughter's 17th birthday. Should be OK by winter time.

Went down and finished mowing the 1.5 ac of clover. 2nd mowing this season to keep the weeds from going to seed.

Went yesterday and checked out the new lease. Spent a few hours walking it and checking spots I had plugged into my god based on some topo scouting I had done. Spent the better part of the day sweating my ass off and fighting mosquitoes and found a couple real promising spots, one of which I'm really pumped about. Dumped some minerals and hung a cam at both spots. I'll go back in a couple weeks and swap cards and see what's goin on
