I've honestly only been frog gigging once, it was last year with my cousin's husband. I did pretty good for my first time, got 8 I think. We plan on going out soon so I'll have to try the bare hand method. You do most of your frogging from a boat, right?
Just depends where I go. If it's a shallow marsh and the frogs are fairly dense, or if they're hugging shorelines, I'll just walk it. If they're spread out, a punt boat (think push pole skiff) with a buddy is the way to go... One guy punting, other guy on the front snatching frogs as you glide by.

I have a gig, Jim. Maybe those ponds at Mingo hold a few croakers😎

Thanks Chad.
I still have one of the original frog gigs I used as a kid with Gramp.
As old as it is, I wonder how many hundreds of frogs it has taken over the years. I know it's on at least it's 3ed pole.

I plan on bringing a grill and doing lunch Thurs and Fri. Will do bacon/deer burgers and brat patties. Mac/Ranch Salad will be there. A few Cobblers and trimmings for the burgers.
Maybe someone can bring buns that will remember them this year? LMFAO

My dad has my grandfather's which was a grabbing gig. It had two spring loaded pincher jaws that spread open with a trigger in the middle. Very useful for snagging them off the top of water or lily pads where there wasn't a solid backing to get a good stab. Works great for grabbing snakes and places you didn't want to shoot a gun like the pump house or the carport

Thanks Charles!

I'll probably bring that cheese dip again along with some chips, extra water, and whatever else might pop up between now and then.
