Just got permission to hunt private land

So, I just got permission to hunt on the farm we get our raw milk from. If any of you are interested in raw milk and how to get it without committing a felony, let me know.

The farmer has a doe that is eating the hell out of his garden (certified organic, no chemicals) and of the 6 hunters he is allowing to hunt the land, no one has killed it for two years. He claims that the other hunters won't kill it because they want a buck/ it has two fawns with it.

How do y'all normally operate on a new farm, especially since we are already in the season. I told him I would do my best to get the doe for him.

He also said that he would like a text when I am on his property, which seems reasonable to me but the other hunters won't do it. They are complaining to him about each other to the point that he almost didn't grant me permission.

Scout it when you can, get a feel for the movement then proceed to kill that particular doe... I'd kill it before a nice 10 point to make the owner more comfortable with his decision....

Yup, do what he says. It sounds like he knows when she's around, ask him. If he wants her dead, I'm sure he'll tell you everything you want to hear.

Kill that doe and be a hell of alot more courteous than those 6 asshats. Before long you might have the place to yourself.

I was thinking the same thing... That property owner is doing you a favor, do what he ask and don't worry about those other guys. Let him take care of them.

Id have to agree with everyone else. The property I hunt, I text him and his sister who lives next door, anytime we go out, either for hunting or checking cams. Out of respect and appreciation. But yeah, kill that doe and offer him some jerky. Hope this works out in your favor

Luckily I'm somewhat familiar with the garden area and the back lot. Just from picking up milk and taking the kids to see the cows. I'm going to pick his brain about movement though.

Congrats on getting permission.

If it were me, here's what I'd do: If you see something that needs fixed or tended to or could be improved, offer to do it. Ask him if there's anything he needs help with on the property or around his house. If you have skills that could be of benefit to him, let him know about them and then make yourself available. Build a friendship with him and like the others said you might be the only hunter on the property before long.

Good luck.

The landowner has more give in him than I do. If these guys were hunting my place they would be history. Everyone has given you very good advice. Hunting his land is a privledge, treat it as such. Landowners don't expect you to kiss their butts, but they do want your honesty and respect. A cheap price to pay IMO.

Find out what route she is taking to get to the garden, (either by asking the land owner or through observation) pick an ambush spot, wait for the right wind, and shoot her.

Do anything that land owner asks of you!! My buddy and I have permission on about 800 acres of awesome Ky farm land because we would shoot does when no one else would. I filled all 4 tags on that farm one year. 3 does and a buck. We have had permission ever since. I'm actually going up there this coming weekend just to shoot does
