Scaring my deer!

You would think it scares deer. But really it doesn't bother them at all as long as the dogs aren't chasing the deer multiple times a week. I've spent quite a bit of time coon hunting. I can't tell you the amount of times I've seen 150+ deer just stand there 15 feet away and look at me like a tame goat as we walked by. I've been standing in the edge of a field at night talking to a buddy and leaned up against the truck. We sent the dogs in and and about 5 minutes later a nice 170 walked out in the field 60 yards away and just fed. He would look at us and keep feeding. Then he walked back where he came from. Wasn't scared and didn't have a care in the world. As long as he's not in there a couple times a week and the dogs are running the deer the deer could care less. I've had dogs running a coon and get a group of deer up, the dogs keep going and the deer just walk in a 100 yards circle and come right back to their bed. Deer are a different creature at night. That's why spotlighting them is so easy. It's not that the light is some kind of magic hypnotizer, they just don't act like the same animal as they do during the day. Mike Rex once put it into perspective and said if deer took off and moved every time a dog or a human bumped them they would never find a place to live. They live day and night with coyotes that actually chase them and try to kill them. The random coon dog running through isn't going to bother them at all.

Joe hit the nail on the head. I grew up coonhunting and they dont bother deer at all as long as they dont run them. Those dogs sometimes don t make it out alive

Lamo. If he gets a pic of the guy walking out with his collars and leash in his hand instead of on a dog that dog was running deer.

I wouldn't, I'm thinking the guy is just trying to find his best friend. Doesn't look like he's hurting anything. Probably texting his kid that's worried sick about the dog being gone (if it's not a GPS). Two sides to every story...

Yeah. Because everyone with family pets owns headlamps with external lithium battery packs, tree leash, brush chaps and a walker dog. Lol.

If anything I'd be pissed he didn't shoot the damn coon out. Corn pile hogging bastards.
