Pocket Pistol Preferences?

With warmer weather on it's way (hopefully), I've been considering the purchase of a pocket-sized handgun for CC. I figure it will be a bit more practical and comfortable for concealing in shorts and whatnot. If you disagree, please explain... I'm open to any/all suggestions.

Now, in regards to "pocket" pistols themselves... I've been leaning towards .380 caliber, most likely the Ruger LCP, possibly with the laser. From what I've seen and heard, it's a good reliable pistol, and often found at less than $200 (minus the laser). This is where I need the most feedback. What are your thoughts on the LCP .380? Should I go with 9 mm instead? My current daily carry is 9 mm. Recommendations on guns other than the LCP? I don't think I want to go the revolver route, but again, feel free to convince me otherwise.

And finally, what are your brand preferences for pocket holsters? I saw an ad for one called the "Sticky" holster I think... Any experience with those?

Being that you already have a 9MM I'd stick with that caliber as you won't have additional caliber laying around and there's some pretty good defense rounds out there for it.... Not that the 380 doesn't.... The 380 will do the job you want it too, but if I can streamline the calibers laying around, I can stock up more for what I shoot lol....

I don't like LCPs be cause my bugger pickers goes past the barrel. Bodyguards are good. Not a fan of new Remington. 380. Interested in the Sccy guns. But...went with a j frame.

Yes, get a DeSantis superfly. Slick holsters. Love mine for front pocket or coat inside breast pocket.

I haven't actually held one, but the ruger LCR 9mm seems to be a bit larger than the LCP. I'm wondering if the LCR would still be a viable pocket carry piece. I guess I won't know until I see one in person.

Exactly, some times you can find indoor ranges that will allow you to borrow theirs for use on the range...

We have one over here that has a half dozen models, you buy the ammo off of them and you can use the gun from what I've seen....

Go handle one. If you wear an XL glove, I'm not sure it will feel very good in the hand. What Huck said.

Yep, XL gloves. Hmmm. Guess I might need to shoot one first. I'm not as concerned about how good it feels in-hand if I can still hit someone in the chest at 10 ft or less. But if I struggle with the shooting, there's no sense in carrying it.

Remember the cheap 99 cent water pistols you could buy at the grocery when you were a kid? Ever try to shoot one as an adult? My kids have had some. It is difficult to shoot them. That is how the LCR/LCP felt in my hands and I'd guess our hands are about the same size. I shook your hand at the TOO Shoot. I notice if someone has tiny hands or a crappy handshake. lol

Don't leave out a nice S-W light weight five shot 38 revolver. Also for 9mm and .380 I would be looking real hard at the glock 42 and 43!!!

JB you are welcome to shoot my LCP, just let me know.

I may take you up on that, Adam. I appreciate the offer dude.

I've not held a G42 or 43 yet but aren't they a bit large for pocket carry? I imagined they were about the same size as my M&P Shield.

I'll have to do some research. I think Hickok 45 does a side by side to the shield.
The 42 might not be too bad for pocket carry, but certainly not the smallest/lightest option available. I did some digging this morning... Man there are a bunch of little guns out there to choose from!

For whatever reason, I'm more partial to the J frame for this type of thing.

I seen they are trying to come out with a gun that looks like an iPhone. Of coarse they are trying to ban the production of it... I hope they don't, they look badass and perfect for this type of thing.
