I have been extremely disappointed with Hughes net. It seems we are on the phone with them every month. The contract is up next month and we will be using cell phone service for our internet.

This website used to work great until they added advertisement, now it runs just as slow as the rest of them. You wouldn't think that something that small would change everything, but it did.

There are no alternative offerings in my area yet so we have satellite internet furnished by Excede. Last time they were out for repair our speed was 12-13 mb.
A friend down the road has Windstream and obtains 24-25 mb. I'm simply stuck with one provider thus far. Service is a 3.5 out of 10.

I talked to Verizon about a MiFi unit and uping my data plan, would cost me an extra $25 month vs Frontier's lowest plan of $30 month ... Hmmmmmmm????

The ads load independent of the content. Meaning one is not dependent on the other for loading. The content should still load the same. If you notice also the ads aren't on every page. For instance they don't load In the nothing about nothing forum due to googles TOS about inappropriate images. But you're right the tiny overhead for the ads shouldn't impact the loading.

That makes sense. Because the page will load just fine, the adds take a little longer and I need to wait that couple seconds before clicking an actual post or it really slows down.

Where I'm at our only option is Hughes net, and like Giles is saying it BLOWS,unless its between 2-5am then its actually pretty good for satellite internet. I have AT&T cell phone and have mine and my girls phone on my plan plus a hotspot device with 30gigs a month. We either use the device or our phones to hotspot a laptop if needed.
