If we are going down the "DOW SUCKS" road, let me throw this out as possibly my final thought on the matter:

I have called the local WO no less than 7 times in the last three weeks. I have emailed him two times, including pictures of a trespassing poacher. Net gain; one return email three weeks ago stating, "I will get back with you on this guy. I have been busy".

When I was a kid, I had a great deal of faith in the ODOW. When we called a WO, (Earl Wallace, Pickaway Co. and the Vinton Co. WO as well, though I can't recall his name), THEY SHOWED UP IN A HURRY!

I will continue to patiently wait.

Better put some coffee on and stock up on Snickers.

Way back when, ran much better then, hell you would think that all the scorers would get a free ticket to the banquet ,without them they would be screwed.

The topic of Quanity vs Quality was was a topic discussed by Tonk at the banquet last weekend. Also new management areas that may be implemented was discussed. And possibly a program similar to the old mail in/drawing for antlerless permits. All this is supposedly based on herd size and harvest data.

After the discussion I asked what percentage of the 188,000+ deer killed does the ODNR add on for the "new cheaters" created by the TeleCheck system. He said in the neighborhood of ten percent. I sais I thought that was to low of a percentage. Tonk said they see the glass as 90% full, I told him I thought that number was unrealistic, but what do I know.

Next time he starts talking about "Herd size" ask him what data collection methods and mathematical formula they use to accurately estimate the live population of a given area.

Here is the answer you'll get..

I need to enter one and attend once just to say I attended and simply to experience it. I am glad Dick went AND shared his experiences with us. I am not looking to go make friends or impress anyone. There is always someone out there who shot a bigger one. For that person, I am happy for them. Up to this point, I have not taken the time to enter one. I had two scored: 138 (128 net) and 141 gross (can't remember the net but thinking low 30s.) They didn't make it obviously. OBBB was always a goal. I have 2 I know make it, but never got them scored. Go figure.

I don't want to add to this dead horse beating, so I will restate what I already said. If there are 1000 deer and 10 are OBBB that is no different than 1/10 deer being OBBB or 100/10000 or 1000/100000. If there are less deer, there are less OBBB deer running around. It is that simple in my simple mind. I'm done (Take two).

This fall I did get called by the ODNR for a survey on deer numbers because I'm a farmer. I bitched about how few deer I see. I asked if I was only complaining there weren't any deer and she said "no"

But I've given up debating the issue online.
