Should’ve skipped ML season and went North!

Nah, it's a toss up really. Fishing on January ice is always so hit or miss. February and March is where it's at. It's just nice to get out there and experience it while it lasts though.

Another fun day on the hard water of Erie yesterday, even though the fish didn't want to cooperate. I got a couple first timers out there and they had a blast. We got into a few flurries of yellow perch but we just couldn't pin down the walleye despite moving several times.

That looks like fun

Yup, I can hunt for 4 months every year...that ice is really something special. Having ice and being off work...I missed a great opportunity.

Yea I heard someone went off the shore of Michigan somewhere... Likely Monroe... And they still haven't found him. Sad.

It's early yet. This won't be the last of the ice fishing for 2018. It's gonna luck back up.

North winds will help close working cracks, however, the forecasted snow will cover them and any other trouble spots. Beyond that walking and pulling gear out with snow cover on Erie sucks. Especially if the bite is out 3+ miles.

Add the 1.5” of rain forecasted today and tomorrow...or aren’t you guys getting this rain?

Definitely some rain, not sure on how much. I won't be venturing out this weekend, way too many dangerous variables. Not to mention the commute to even get to the launch. Looks like she'll snug up next week, I'll be out then.

I'm betting mother Erie will be fishable again by next week. Whether it's quad-worthy or not is another story. If we don't get a ton of snow I wouldn't be surprised if guys were fishing Monday.

Absolutely, actually considered taking a day off for it. Always nice fishing weekdays.

Took us most of the day to find them but it finally paid off. Suspended in 17 fow. Ended up with 20 or so with the majority being over 8 inches. Fun stuff!
