I'm not trying to impress anyone. I'm trying to find ways to deal with the pressure of taking home the hot chick and not the fat chick. My dick doesn't care either way, but my mind has goals. Trying to make one over power the other has seemed to be a bit difficult lately, as I've only seen one hot chick and plenty of fat ones.
turn off the lights. The fat chick will work harder for you. Lol

As you get older you realize that tag soups tastes a whole lot better than ending up eating something else that you didn't want to eat to begin with. At least that is how it worked for me.

Very good point. Do you want to choke down a meal from the prison lunch line or go without food? If a less than "your" standards buck claims your tag, you might wish you had gone without.

Plus- think of the money you will save on the taxidermy bill! You want a bunch of so-so deer mounted in your living room or just one or two you are super proud of?

Please don't take this wrong. I respect all the animals. I appreciate the opportunity God puts in front of me. At the end of the day, I am only going to mount the racks I deem most worthy. If I mounted everything that meant a lot to me, then I would have to mount every doe i have killed to. They all mean a lot.

HAHAhahahHAAHAHA!rotflmao You guys are cracking me up after a long night at work.

I'm not worried about a $24 tag either, I could go without using it. I just know that as the season goes on, the smaller bucks are starting to look bigger. I have kind of a hard time judging age this time of year anyways. With the big boys worn down to nothing and the young ones looking healthy, it's hard for me to tell when they are walking through the woods by themselves. I haven't seen the number of mature bucks that I usually do. That has always been my goal, but I passed on one on my very first hunt of the year…and it's haunted me since. Then my wife is in my ear about passing on 2.5-3.5 year old bucks here at my house…that's getting real old. "I don't know why you don't shoot them?! I don't like this trophy hunting crap you're getting into!" (put that in wife tone)

Whoever said 140"…if a 140 walks in front of me, it's game on! This is only my 3rd year buck hunting, and I don't think either of my two bucks would measure 140…(never measured them or had them measured)

My standards haven't changed. 140" or tag soup. I'm content saving them until next year.

I agree Ben. I have very few bucks even worth a second glance this year. "Let them go and watch them grow". I'm still having a good time and working on a big old nanny doe. But with that, I would never look down on someone shooting whatever makes them happy that day. Point is to enjoy your decisions.

I call this the college bar paradox, early in the evening my standards are 7 (my 7 is probably everybody else's 5) or above, by the end of the night, as long as they smell nice!

Yeah, but when you get older you are satisfied by just looking at the 7's realizing you couldn't do anything with it anyway if you caught them:D Isn't that right Brock?

Lots of great points and funny ass posts all through this motha fugga!!! Lol

Personally Dave, if I were you, I'd hold out for that big 8(if he's still alive!) you have one of his sheds and you have plenty of time between now and seasons end to have a decent chance at getting him especially with two days or gun and muzzy just up ahead.
Plus like others have said, colder temps are coming soon and that will help! Imagine how awesome the feeling you would have if you accomplish this feat?!? If you tag something else, you're out of the game till next year for him.

If you encounter another mature deer before hand by all means take that shot! Regardless, no one will flame you for shooting something small except possibly yourself after the fact.

Good luck to the rest of your season!

Yeah it's crispy out. I hunted a shitload this year and was happy as hell to shoot that butterball seven pointer. My goal for deer season is to get one with my bow or crossbow but this year that didn't happen so out came the old 870. Good luck but remember horns make thin soup also lol.
