Took a near serious ladder stand fall today

I had a near serious ladder stand fall today and probably won't know till tomorrow how sore I"ll be.
I decided to insulate the ceiling on my man cave. So I bolted two 4"x4"x8' to the bucket of my frontend loader and screwed a sheet of plywood for a platform. To I lift up the salvaged batting insulation that's in 2'x6' bags. Using salvaged insulation on the walls and ceiling saved me over $1000. It's new scraps left from the airport hanger construction my friend got me.

Not having a ladder handy I decided to use a tree stand ladder to go up the 9' wall. I put together the 3 sections and everything looked good. I climbed to the top and the bottom push together joint folded onto itself and down I come. I slide straight down the wall for 8' and when I hit bottom I got throwed backwards onto a metal shelving. That hurt and bouncing off the concrete flood didn't help matters. Wish me luck.

I ask for help from the boys but one thing I won't ask help on is doing fiberglass insulation.

So the moral of the story is- guys watch those metal ladder stands for rusting at the push together joints.

I feel your pain. It happens fast. Hope you wake up without pain tomorrow.

Thanks for the thought but it won't happen. I suffer for constant severe MS muscle pain 24-7 anyway. It just depends how bad it's going to be.

Hope it's not as bad as you are thinking. Glad you are here to tell us about it as well. Seems bad I know, but could have been worse.

alright, I gotta say you might have been asking for an issue here. Being "young and dumb" is one thing, but come one man. I'm glad you were aw to make this post. But seriously, you're smarter than this.

Sounds like it is time to buy some scaffolding next time it is on sale. Glad you are here to tell us about it Frank.

Now Phil who uses a scaffolding instead of a ladder? Just need to inspect the ladder better. LOL

Oh we have scaffolding.

I did forget to mention that I got another better ladderstand to get on top the ceiling so I could unload the insulation I already had up in the air. And that was in better shape and worked just fine.

Guess I was envisioning hanging overhead in the open where you can't use a ladder. Anyway, glad it wasn't worse.

No just getting up 9' to get on top of the room ceiling to put the insulation on top of the ceiling plywood. I will get the boys to man handle the 4x8 sheets of plywood up there off my loader platform to lay the loft floor down. They are just too much for me to handle.

An accident is just that. Unplanned and still tragic.
Maybe I got up on the wrong side of the bed today....but I am a little disappointed in a few of these comments.
