I had a great morning. I watched 6 different bucks from my stand most of the morning. Even though I have used my buck tag up I enjoyed watching them. As I was walking out on the creek that I use to get in and out of that stand. I looked down the bank at about 7 yards lays a huge doe asleep with her head laid back over her shoulder. I thought to myself she must have been gut shot. At first I thought maybe she was dead but I could see the rib cage moving in and out . So I put a arrow through her boil maker. She just flopped over and tried to stand up but couldn't. She then expired. As I looked closer at her fllank I see some hair missing and when I rolled her over to get my arrow I noticed her back leg was broke at the hock. Yep she had been hit by a car last night. She was in bad shape. I don't know how she made it to where she did. She was a half mile to any road. They are truly tough critters. KIMG0163.jpg

It's warm…get that hide off and get her cleaned up before that bruising ruins a bunch of meat. Congrats on what sounds like a cool experience!

You did the right thing. I had a similar experience during gun season once. Came across a doe that couldn't get up. Thought she had been shot. After I finished her I couldn't find any other holes. After skinning her she had some bruising from a car incident.
