Same thing happens to me 7 years ago I had been seen this buck several times that year but it was never in bow range and the 2 of November he came in chasing a doe I pulled back my bow to aim and let it go I sat in that tree for 30 min and called the land owner and told him I was going to need some help he rides up on his quad and he ask me where he was standing and I point to the spot he walks over and starts laughing so I asked him is there blood and he said no I looked at him puzzled so I got down and walked over to him and here the arrow hit a sapling the sapling must have smacked the buck and that the reason he had jumped like I had hit him. I still remember it like it was yesterday and it still gets talked about at deer camp . But the old buck didn't make it that year one of the neighbors got a shot at him gun week and never found him. Me and the land owner was out walking after the snow melted and found him
