I wasn't going to start one of these but after showing some of you assholes the shed and some of my experiences with this buck, I felt the need to be able to share. Here's some of the story here… http://www.theohiooutdoors.com/showthread.php?18120-Shed-dog

Anyways, with my new work schedule hunting has been out of the question so far. I've been able to get out with the kids a few times at my house, but I'm itching to get out to this other property. I got the call yesterday that my moms officially done with the cancer treatments and her and my old man will be coming down to see us this weekend. I went into work and told the I wasn't working this coming weekend.

The old man and I are going to be hitting the woods. Planning on an all day sit on Saturday and at least a Sunday morning sit before they have to head back towards Toledo. I couldn't sleep last night and have butterflies in my stomach just typing this. My wife is already planning the winter single life as she knows that once I get started, its all over. We have talked about this Gr8 8 for a year now and I'm not sure I'm going to shoot at another buck this year besides him. For the first time ever, my tag already has a place to go.

I'm hunting this 180 acres with 6 other guys/buddies! For me to be the one to close the deal would be something special. I would really like for one of us to take him this year though, so I can go on with my life. lol

I'm trying to hunt this year without any cams… We will see how long I make it. I don't even have one set up at my house this year.

New smoker is here, got my apple chips, and a fresh bottle of propane!

The title of this had me thinking something else was about to go down lol.

Good luck and enjoy the time with your Dad! Mine has never been a hunter so enjoy it. I see him fairly often but sitting in the woods with him most likely will never happen.

Thank you everyone for the kind words. My old man is my best friend, hands down, always has been. It's never really mattered what we've done together, we always make the best of it and have fun doing it. This is the first time I've been able to take him to hunting spot. He's always been the one to take me, so this is a little extra special for me this year. And given the property and knowing what kind of bucks are around…I'm kinda freaking out thinking about him finally getting a wall hanger. He's never killed anything worth really mounting. My allergies started kicking in earlier at work just thinking about him killing a nice mature buck. With everything he's gone through the last couple of months with my moms cancer, he really deserves a nice prize and I can't think of a better one. I hope the deer gods line up this year for him, and I really hope I get to be a part of it.

We used to fly them up to Alaska every year, and I'd take him fishing in some really breath taking places…but this is different, it's deer hunting. I'm the only kid (out of 4) that gets into hunting and we have shared deer camp for many years together. Many nights that we can't remember drowned out with tears and beers my friends… My best friend, is my dad.

Great write up Giles!!! It's awesome you and your dad have that kind of love and admiration for each other! Hope this season is a great one for you both!

That 8 was prolly in the low 150's last year! Wonder what he looks like this year? Hope to see one of you posing with a big smile with him this season! Good luck'

A couple of guys are running cams on this property...I'm sure he'll show up at some point. I'd prefer to see him through my scope though! See how bad ass he is after a fuggen G5 passes through his chest cavity! I'll be sure to howl at the moon if that happens. That's a promise as a shout out to my fellow too brothers.
