Congrats to your friend on finding his deer.

I also agree with Phil and yourself on that your buddy needs to learn from this which I'm sure he will. Glad he'll get some meat out of it TOO.

Wish i could say that i didn't make any mistakes when i first started bow hunting but i did and after more than twenty years i'm just starting to get a handle on it lol. Congrats to your buddy!!!

That is a great point. I am right there with you. Made plenty of mistakes. Still make them sometimes. Shot angles, and placement are things I focus on. Last year I made two shots I wasn't proud of. Both deer recovered. If they were quartering to I am not sure I would have recovered.

Yeah Hicks I was going back a ways to when I shot my first one with a bow and it was a small button buck. Finally hit it with my third shot lol. To me that deer was a trophy.

Glad it worked out for the best. I have had a lone doe walk in on me and after seeing nothing all evening, (and no other deer to size her up with) she seemed bigger than she was.
