I have that exact pair of vortex talons hd 10x42. I love them and have had them for 2years now. They have great glass and I can use them while still wearing my eye glasses. They seem pretty high quality for the money. plus vortexs warranty is covers pretty much everything.
I also looked at vortex diamondback 8x42 but I couldn't use them while wearing glasses and the light transmission was much better with the hd talons.

They do very good in the rain and humidity out here. I can't complain about what I see at 400 either its clear without any distortion at the edge of view.
