Uggghhh. That really sucks man. At least you didn't miss much today. Not cool to just take your boat for a road trip without getting it wet though. Bummer.

I'm headed back up here in a couple minutes. I'll be in Elmore and reception sucks, so if anyone wants to meet up for some White Bass or beers 907-350-1181. Text is best while I'm at my folks. We are driving the wives car, so if you see a little black Dodge parked along the Portage with the plate "AKMOMA" throw on the binders and bring me a cold beer! If you don't have one, the cooler will be in the back of the car…bring a couple.

Catch any? I'm thinkin the portage needs a little rain to bring it up some. Always have the best luck then. We fish right where sugercreek emptys into the river and park at the gun club and walk down.

I know that place all too well. I prefer the tomato docks myself. My folks live right by the cemetery in Elmore and I think I'm going to get back into shooting fish with a bow... Water is crazy low and clear. Tons of carp and gar cruising and begging to be shot, lol.

I worked the river this morning from here to the bank in oak harbor. Throwing white spinners, grubs, and buzz baits, NOTHING! Really depressing honestly.

The rains this afternoon split right around us here in Elmore. I don't even think I'll be going out tomorrow. Which is normally my best white bass day of the year...

My wife told me I should go to Fremont...but that not exactly my kind of crowd. I've got a bad habit of slapping people with my rod tip, or jerking the spinners out of the water at the end, hahaha.

Nope...never came up at all. Was in Fremont at first light, the banks were lined. Came back through and worked from 590 to the Elmore bridge. Caught a cat, one white bass, and three big rock bass. About to load up the car and head back south.

Sounds good to me man. Made it home in record time, 3 hours flat! Our next trip is planned in 3 weeks. I normally fish the old bridge in Sandusky bay for big cats during that trip.

I grew up fishing that river. I always enjoy the hell out of going back "home" to fish it. I sure know what you mean about not being crowded, thats one of the best parts about that little river. That, and, you never know what your going to pull in. That river produces some really nice fish if you know where to find them. The Northerns are getting more and more popular also. I used to only catch them by the tomato docks and last year I landed a couple at my folks house inside the Elmore limits!

If anyone targets fish with a bow, Elmore downstream from the bridge is covered with perfect target fish! Water is really low for this time of year and fish are stacked on top of each other in the holes. The bank is pretty tall at my folks house and you can sit up on top and watch all the Gar, Carp, and Suckers swim back and forth all day long. I'd suggest parking on Rice street by the cemetery and walking down the steps into the park (just to the left of the old cemetery when looking at it). Then work you way downstream from there. Fish were stacked from the rapids to the first big bend. Or you could park at the soccer fields/park and walk your way back upstream to the rapids. Either way, it'd be a good time. I'd throw a handful of canned sweet corn in every once in a while just to watch the carp come up and eat it. So it should work for anyone wanting to catch carp on tackle.

Damn giles we have stomped the same spots lol. They are suppose to take the old dam out one of these years. I have a buddy that wades and fishes the holes up by pemberville and he does great on smallmouth bass. When bow fishing i like the sugercreek spot just because there is a sand bottom and you have less of a chance of dicking up your arrow from all the rocks. Got the day off so i think i'll have to cruze up that way just for a nice drive. Was at Benches greenhouse getting my mom a hanging basket friday but didn't get to go any farther than that.

I was at Benches myself this past weekend, lol.

The dam doesn't really do much anymore anyways.

My mom works at Frobo's (or however it's spelled) in Pemberville.

I grew up in Genoa, graduated from Penta in 98'. Parents moved to Elmore around that same time.

I used to know most of the cops in Walbridge in that day. Still hunt with a couple of retired ones from that little town. I've also got a couple buddies that live in that town. Neither of them hunt, they prefer going fast and drinking, lol. So depending on what all you get into, I'm guessing we've crossed paths before.

LOL hell yeah but when i graduated penta in 81' at seventeen years old you were just born lol. If i was still in my thirtys and met you at the river for beers and fishing a case would last us about a hour lol. Now you know why i gave up the beer because i'm gettin old lol.

If you guys are targeting WB, they were killing them on the Maumee this past weekend. I never made it past the reservoir 15 minutes from my house. The saugeye bite from shore has been ridiculous as well

I'm not big on fishing around people anymore. The Old Goat nailed it on the head of why I still love the mighty portage. Living in AK and fishing the salmon runs really ruined me when it comes to enjoying myself while fishing in crowds. Do a picture search on "combat fishing".
