That is a bummer man. You have any luck on your Athens county property this year?

I had 2 target bucks this year. I never saw one...it seemed that he knew the days I had to work. The other went by me in the food plot at 23 yards following a doe. I never picked up my bow because he had broken G3s. So I felt a sense of accomplishment even though I am preparing my tag soup now.

I also passed on the buck in this thread and some other 3 year olds. The season was a disappointment because I thought there would be more roaming mature bucks from other properties but those 2 were the only ones I had pics of. The one with the broken G3s was alive before daylight on the last day of muzzy season so maybe he made it but no late season pics of him.

I wouldn't be disappointed if I was you, is what I'm trying to say. With multiple 3 year olds walking around, I'd be damn excited about next year already.

And if you kill one before your happy with it, no way will it make it another year or two. Thats a fact!

For not killing anything on us or 2 of the neighboring properties we lost a lot of good bucks this year. There is about 20 acres of standing corn so I'm hoping that's where some of the missing are residing.

This is a follow up on this post from last winter. I'm not sure how this buck survived but the neighbor swears this is him and he knows his deer quite well. He sure didn't add any body mass or inches to his rack but to have made it through last winter and avoid coyotes while not being able to move is a testament to their toughness. We don't have any pics of him this year. I think he was shot just north of us so maybe he is staying away.

That bottom photo sure does look like the same wound area. Still leaning towards a surface scrape.
