Phil, I did go out because of the eclipse . My first encounter with this buck hunting was during the blood moon. I chose to hunt that morning because I was curious on what would happen.

That morning on my way in we met, as I was slinking down an old cattle trail at 0615, he popped out from under an oak tree. He was up and eating, as I trapped him in my flashlight he started to walk into the light. After hitting my comfort level of 15', I said good morning to bound him off.
The rest of that morning was great with 18 deer seen.

With that, all was lining up last night. the wind was right and the partial eclipse sent me after him again, in the same area that we had met prior.

To to answer your question yes the eclipse played big into my decision.
