You can find the rugers on sale if you take your time below 600.....

I know the S&W is a solid gun. Downsides are no forward assist, no dust cover and a 1:9 twist. Otherwise everything is good to go on them. My fil has one and it shots just fine and handles nicely.

I don't know much about the Ruger ones.

I believe the Ruger has the fa and the dust cover.

If anyone is interested in a soft sided gun case this would be a good one for kicking around, not a lot of money and should get you too the range/hunting back and forth for a while...... There are three versions on sale 40"-48" in length.......... For 19.00 it's pretty good.....
