Hanging with my dad and my dog this evening. Got some bluegrass twanging and a cooler for of Coronas. Perfect evening to pick up roots and sticks. uploadfromtaptalk1429912312635.jpg

Yep. The RTV, 55 horses and 25 horses now. Built like tanks, assembled stateside, great local service, 5 year - no interest financing and 30% cheaper than the green version. His new 25 HP tractor with front end loader is a badass toy. Perfect size for a homeowner.

Finally got some time to work the ground on the new garden tonight. Plowed it last week and got the disc out tonight. Got a lot of work ahead of me getting the sod clumps out but I'll get it done. image.jpg

Dad and I are going to go halves on a walk behind. I have a foot plot I'd like to plant that I can't get a tractor to, but can walk a tiller in. So it'll be a good purchase for both of us.

I got my potatoes lettuce onions and cabbage in yesterday after turkey hunting. Now we just need some heat to get them going. Looks like after Monday the temps are going too warm up. Last week I planted two apple and two peach trees. I transplanted my strawberries into a raised bed about three weeks ago and the look like they took off great so all Im waiting for is the temps to warm up.

Man you boys down south sure get an early start. I'm still several weeks out from planting anything up here.

Jesse that ground is looking good man. You're gonna have some serious time invested in there when the weeds start coming up! Lol I made the mistake of going to big last year and it was a major handful. I'm scaling back this season.

Also, be careful not to run a tiller when the soil is moist. Tillers compact the soil like a motherfugger at the deepest point of that tine rotation.

Nice! I have a couple Apple trees that are on their last leg. I plan on cutting them out and pulling the stumps next spring. They are a bit spaced out so they've never really cross pollinated as they should. I plan to put four new ones in the same area.

How quickly do they grow?

I plan on tilling the gardens on Saturday so I can get beans, corn and onions in. I'll likely wait a couple more weeks for peppers and maters.

Any tricks for keeping coins out of corn? I dispatched more than my fair share last year and still couldn't keep up with them.

I've heard of that before. I may give that a try, I just hope the squirrels and bunnies stay out of it.

Heard they won't even make it more than a few feet.

Put it inside a tote. The coons will figure out how to tip it on the side or they will jump in. Then nothing else can get into it. I've also "heard" that they only make it 10-20'...lol

Way too work smart not hard NAC!

Jimbo, wouldn't it be nice to not have to wait another month to plant lol. It's easy to get the itch, but Memorial Day is the earliest to make sure we don't get a hard frost.

Jesse, good call on the walk behind. Slap that bad boy in the back of the UTV and get to planting some corn in the holla!
