It was a good day today. I won at auction a WW11 1898 Mauser that was converted to 22LR single shot by FN in Belgium for Israeli as a Trainer in 1948-52. FN used a well used surplus military rifle and installed a Remington 521-T heavy barrel with a conversion of the bolt to 22LR. This was done for the new nation of Israeli for training use. I was watching the auction for 7 days. The rifle is so unusual and so few made the average collector didn't know what it was.
This will be a nice addition of my other 2 different 1898 Mausers Trainers converted by Israeli in country to 22LR.
Pictures to follow in about a week. It appears from the auction pictures the rifle started out as a Turkish Mauser, converted by FN for Israeli, was proofed in England as some point, came to the USA and is going to end up in Frank's hands. The good thing is I got it for below market value as a Trainer collector.

I've always had good luck with the tape, but if it ever fails I'll be using your method....

IMG_20150827_200848723.jpg Sorry about the last one, my phone did something weird. Anyways the A5 was a gift from my father in law. It was in unfired condition and he told me it was going to waste just sitting in his safe and needed to be shot. I then realized Browning shotguns fit me perfectly so I bought the silver hunter about a year after the A5

Yes it was an awesome gift. All I said was I was thinking about buying one and he said do you want one? He also has a very nice light 20; however he said I wasn't getting that one till he is in the ground ha-ha.

I always like the hump back design. In 1965 a co-worker had one for sale and we agreed on a price of 35.00 but of course I didn't have 35.00 on me as that was almost 50% of a week's take home pay back then. I brought the cash in the next day and he backed out of the deal. Never did get one.

They are great shooters and as long as you set them up properly pretty soft shooters. I would really like to add a sweet sixteen to the collection but a nice one is pricey.

IMG_20150829_194820594.jpgThis is my last cool gun. Its a Smith and Wesson M&P sport with bushmaster 2 stage trigger, Burris fullfield II 2 x 7 scope in a Weaver mount. With my reloads I have been able to get a 1 inch group out of it.
