Eastern Sports and Outdoors Show

Then sue Reed. Would be one hell of a class action. And in the others defense I think they made the announcement during the shot show or very close.
I sympathize with the small vendors. I know one thing for sure, I would be going over my contract with a fine toothed comb.

Excellent post, Rutn! I feel for those vendors. Reed turned a show that everyone wants to attend into a place that no one wants to be a part of. The cost for booth space alone is staggering at the bigger shows. Part of that cost is because it is prime real estate for a few short days... that space is now far from "prime". Those folks that do attend as a consumer will likely be able to find great deals due to vendors just looking to break even, or at least cut their losses. It's a bad deal all around, and whomever made that decision for Reed would be looking for a job if I were king.

I think this will do it.....

Here is a list of celebrities, sponsors, and vendors who have pulled out of the Reed Exhibits Eastern Sports and Outdoors Show in Harrisburg, PA for 2013. The show was set to run from Feb 2-10, 2013 and usually attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors.

Please Also Remember – Going Live on Feb 2nd – The Start of The Eastern Sports and Outdoors Show – www.MyNortheastClassifieds.com will go live to the public. We will be providing any vendor who has pulled out of the show a FREE centrally located marketplace to sell their items, products, services, etc. Supporting members of the public will have the confidence that ONLY vendors and items listed in this market place will be by approved vendors. This is a great way for you to help support those vendors who stood up for our rights, and many who have lost thousands of dollars by pulling out will depend on this income to help defray their costs.

PLEASE BE PATIENT – THIS LIST HAS GROWN TREMENDOUSLY
We will continue to process vendors, speakers, etc as they are entered into out our spreadsheet… Look for a complete list by end of the day today… Thanks !

This however will not be the case this year as they have made an announcement that they will not support our Second Amendment Rights as Hunters, Shooting Sports Enthusiasts, Gun Owner, and AMERICANS ! We at MyNortheastOutdoors.com decided it was time to take a stand, and have enjoyed the support of the following businesses and entities listed below.

We will continue to update this list (Last Updated: 23 Jan 2013 @ 12:13pm) as often as we can get the information, however in the meantime if you see that we have missed you or any others, or you would like to contact us, Email Us Here.

Just as an FYI – Bass Pro Shops pulled out before all of this started, they are not considered a withdrawn vendor since they withdrew prior to the announcement due to a disagreement over the parking issues.

What are the chances of Class Action Lawsuit being brought against Reed Exhibitions by all the Show Exhibitors, City of Harrisburg, Hotels, Restaurants and anyone else directly affected by Reed's decision to not allow Modern Sporting Arms at the 2013 ESOS?

Deerassic Park Education Center withdraws from Eastern Sports & Outdoor Show
Cambridge, Ohio - The Deerassic Park Education Center has decided to withdraw from the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show in Harrisburg, Pa., due to the decision by Reed Exhibitions to ban the display of legal modern sporting rifles.

"We are saddened that the Eastern Sports & Outdoor Show will not be a part of our 2013 schedule" said Mark Meeker, General Manager "however, the Board and Management at the Deerassic Park Education Center find it to be morally and ethically irresponsible to support the Eastern Sports & Outdoor Show, and join our business partners, contributors and friends in the current boycott."

Deerassic Park Education Center supports the 2nd Amendment and believes that it protects the rights of businesses, individuals and families to determine to enjoy shooting sports in any way that is within the confines of the laws of the United States. Reed's decision to ban these modern sporting rifles citing that the "current climate may attract negative attention that would distract from the strong focus on hunting and fishing at this family-oriented event and possibly disrupt the broader positive experience of our guests" is not in line with our support of educating and engaging youth about a broad spectrum of outdoor sports and activities.

Deerassic Park Education Center is located outside of Cambridge, OH and is a 130 acre facility dedicated to educating and engaging young people in pursuit of outdoor sportsmanship and conservation. Deerassic Park is funded through its partnership with The National Whitetail Deer Education Foundation, and their annual exposition and fundraising event the Deerassic Classic Giveaway & Outdoor Expo. Billed as one of the biggest, most unique outdoor events in the United States being held this year on Aug 2
nd & 3rd, Deerassic is planning to make extra room available this year for anyone who has been displaced from the Eastern Sports & Outdoor Show. Please contact Mark
Meeker at Deerassic, 740.435.3335 for more information.

Looks like it's over 30% now. You just have to wonder what was the pressure they were under.
If it's the same outfit that puts on the SHOT Show that was last week in Vegas then why in PA?
I would say Reed Promotions is basicly out of business now for future shows.

I feel bad for all the small businesses that depend on this show for their income. The promoter's actions will cause a hardship on many people.

Looks like they have decided to postpone the show. Pulled their website, http://www.easternsportshow.com

Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show - Update - January 24, 2013Reed Exhibitions has decided to postpone, for now, the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show given the controversy surrounding its decision to limit the sale or display of modern sporting rifles (also called ARs) at the event. The show was scheduled to take place February 2-10 in Harrisburg, PA.

“Our original decision not to include certain products in the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show this year was made in order to preserve the event’s historical focus on the hunting and fishing traditions enjoyed by American families,” said Chet Burchett, Reed Exhibitions President for the Americas. “In the current climate, we felt that the presence of MSRs would distract from the theme of hunting and fishing, disrupting the broader experience of our guests. This was intended simply as a product decision, of the type event organizers need to make every day.

“It has become very clear to us after speaking with our customers that the event could not be held because the atmosphere of this year’s show would not be conducive to an event that is designed to provide family enjoyment. It is unfortunate that in the current emotionally charged atmosphere this celebratory event has become overshadowed by a decision that directly affected a small percentage of more than 1,000 exhibits showcasing products and services for those interested in hunting and fishing.

“ESS has long been proud to participate in the preservation and promotion of hunting and fishing traditions, and we hope that as the national debate clarifies, we will have an opportunity to consider rescheduling the event when the time is right to focus on the themes it celebrates.”

Yea, they postponed it, but they in no way took any blame for it.

"It is unfortunate that in the current emotionally charged atmosphere this celebratory event has become overshadowed by a decision that directly affected a small percentage of more than 1,000 exhibits showcasing products and services for those interested in hunting and fishing"

You got overshadowed by our 2nd Amendment rights!! and we are no small group of believers!!
