Great White Hunter: Season's End

by rrr on 02-05-2011 at 09:21 PM
Well, it looks like it is time to wrap up the blog of this season...

First, to update since my last blog post which was after Thanksgiving, I hunted my butt off during my four week Christmas break! I lost count of my sits and hours, but before muzzleloader season I hunted almost every evening for three hours or so. I decided to focus upon the small piece of woods across the field from my parent's house. I used corn but wasn't able to establish good feeding patterns. A few days

GWH: Itching

by rrr on 12-12-2010 at 03:55 PM
I am itching, son of a beaver! I was doing so good focusing on school, finishing up the law journal (if anyone else wants a copy, let me know), and finishing the semester strong. My birthday was a great distraction and motivator but now I'm sitting here unable to focus, with two papers (each 7-10) and an article analysis (3-4) due on Wednesday. by rrr on 11-28-2010 at 07:23 PM
What do they old Indians say about vegetarians? Something about it meaning bad hunter...

I had a great Thanksgiving break. Given a lot of time off of school and in much need of a break, I took to the woods in full force over the past week. Friday night before I was even home Hoytmania called me asking for help tracking his buck. It turned out into a rough night in the woods without a recovery but it was a good lesson for me to learn about tracking and good practice looking

Ready...Set...Break!

Is it Thanksgiving break? I am looking forward to getting home to the great state of Ohio and hunting! Aside from the afternoon/evening of Thanksgiving I don't have any plans aside from hunting. The morning of Thanksgiving I will hopefully be rabbit hunting behind a friend's beagles, and this would be the 3rd or 4th year in a row for that. We always hunt the same piece that morning I can tell you exactly where we will jump rabbits, where they run, and the

Rookie Season

by rrr on 10-27-2010 at 08:01 PM
Well, I got my first taste of bowhunting over fall break last week (Oct 21-23) and it was quite the experience. Yes, I did see deer. Yes, I managed to botch a shot before it happened by bumping my arrow off the knock. And yes, I did miss a chip shot at 7 yards. Today I had a friend, a non-hunter, ask me "Was hunting successful?" - another yes.

Though I chronicled my hunt in a thread, there's been more to reflect on since then. I cannot speak enough or say thank you
