I vote we meet at Vinton Furnace. It's a shorter drive for everyone but me, so that save y'all some road time. It's steeper down there and if they got the snow we have here, it won't be easy walking. But I think we could have a fun hunt there.

Or we can meet at AEP still and just try a new section. I scouted out an area that would be an improvement over our previous hunts IMO.

Jesse I hate for you to give up a hunting opportunity. We can still get together in the evening and eat and shoot the breeze. I appreciate you doing it but would feel really guilty if you were doing the driving

You have walked both places more than I have. Vinton furnace is big woods which means less of a chance that people have boogered those deer. On the downside we have 4 people in a place that would take 20 to drive effectively.

Heres how I think we should approach this. You tell me where is better suited. We concentrate on isolated shelterbelts in low lying areas preferably in proximity to food. The deer here have started to yard up and i suspect they will be down there too. Hunt em like they do out west or in North Dakota. Drive around glassing until we either spot one or see plenty of fresh sign then make a game plan for a stalk but put blockers on the likely escape routes, or push it out.

We're fortunate to have a full moon and good snow, after the hunt Saturday evening we drive around until we locate a few pockets of deer out feeding. Mark their GPS location and make a game plan for a few drives Sunday morning before heading home.

With only 4 people so that means only one truck, and I would rather burn gas than boot leather and make some surgical strikes. I have the onx hunt app on my phone to make sure we stay on public land.

I still had to give up hunting at home and drive 45 minutes to hunt AEP. I'm good with making the trip if others are. That said, I ain't sad about hunting the farm either. LOL

I'm not planning on coming down until Sunday AM regardless of what we do. But I don't mind being down there by 5:30 and taking advantage of the last 90 minutes of moonlight. That said, I agree with the drive and look for sign. We not many guys, gotta increase the odds somehow.

What nobody is camping? Fine, twist my arm to sleep in a soft bed with a warm ass and a handffull of boob.

We currently have joe, Jesse, clay, and myself?

I just dropped a buddy a line to see if he wants to join. He's as solid as they get. Not a liability. I've been trying to get him to join up for a while.
