Anybody know anything about neon signs?

I picked up an old neon sign from work today. Now it was in the trash pile but it's in decent shape. It does have on crack in the bulb but that's not on the main sign. I just can't figure out why it won't work. Idk where to even start. . . Here is the crack

Maybe just a bad starter or ballast? Do you see a little white or cream colored plastic cylinder anywhere?... That'd be the starter.

Okay scratch what I just said... Maybe that only applies to flourescent lighting and not neon.

Yeah there's some white marks on the bulb, if thats what ya mean.

Thats a cool sign even if it doesn't work. Their Summer Shandy is good for a change of pace summer beer.

They are filled with a gas that glows once energized. If the glass is cracked that section will not light up. As for the rest of it.. You got me.

I knew that that section would be out, but like you said for the rest of it I'm clueless. It has little battery packs it looks like. Il have to do some research.

My cousin works at a neon place. If I can get a hold of him this weekend I will ask where to start. They are mostly doing LED stuff now. He has been there for 20-25yrs though.

Flutey- I thought the same, but thy always throw away older signs and stuff that they didn't wanna fix or are just old. So it's hard to tell. An Phil that would be awesome if you could give him a yell. I would even send it to him for th right price.
