I have a buddy that owns a hunting preserve. He called me yesterday hoping I could help him kill off some coyotes that are killing off his deer. Mason and I went over there first thing this morning to set a few snares. Of course, Mason was in Heaven getting to pet "Sammy" the 7 year old that has been a 140'er since he was three....

Hunting in a fence wouldn't be my thing, but some of the deer are impressive for sure!

So on our way home from the preserve, my wife sent me a text stating that I had recieved a package from Andy.... Mullskinner as some of you may know him as. It was addressed to both Mason and me, so we both tore it open to fight over whatever was inside. There was enough fly-fishing gear in there to outfit a guy for a lifetime...seriously, I have never seen so many flies and leaders. Mason and I decided to head over to the neighbor's pond to try out some of the new gear!

It worked! We killed 'em. I mean everything in the pond...largemouth, crappies and bluegill...as fast as we could get one in we'd get another! In the middle of the day, hotter than heck, and we absolutely killed em!

How do you beat a day like this? I don't think you do, with the exception that I am now at the pizza shop and will be till midnight or so... Still, pretty good day!

Jim, he told me this morning he thought about waking me up to go turkey hunting (he gets up around 530), then decided if he played his cards right he'd get to go fishing instead. He figured it would be awful warm in the woods, but perfect for fishing!:) He played me like a fiddle. He and Andy may have had this planned out in advance. :)

That's impressive right there. Some woman is going to have her hands full with him some day. lmao

I'd say as long as she is busty and doesn't try to keep him from the woods and water all will be fine. :)

Andy is doing great. He has trimmed himself into a lean, mean hunting and fishing machine. Work is keeping him from the wilds more than it should, but a world-class redneck like him finds time to do the important things on occassion. He slapped the water a bit with a fly rod early this morning, and as soon as I dig up the pic I'll show you what he had for lunch....along with salad from his garden and home-cut french fries.

I have never met Andy in person, but he's like a brother to me. We text all the time back and forth while hunting and fishing, and is one of the real advantages of having started up Scent Smoker....I've met some great people! Andy is top-shelf in my book!

It aint just every redneck that can target big rock bass in Ohio and actually catch 'em. Andy has those kinda skills!:) On a fly rod, and straight to the lunch time skillet...as it should be.

There were several that worked really well, but I think this little bugger was the most effective. It is a crawdad imitation that Andy ties with fox squirrel hair. It looks incredibly real coming through the water, and I caught all 7 largemouth on it, along with several crappie and a ton of gills. This thing is going to be awesome on smallmouth in the creeks if I ever get myself down there!
