New bow

Well I picked up a new bow about 2 weeks ago. It needs some tlc and should be a good project to learn on. I plan on dancing it down and refinishing it. From what I can tell through research, it is a Stemmler recurve. Model Turk. It is 60" and 44# @ 28". Here are a few pics of my new project.

looks good hoyt. that should clean up nicely. dont let nobody BS ya....44 pounds will kill a deer dead...good luck.

I will.probably be asking a lot of questions mill once I get it finished up and a string made for it. I have zero clue on how to find the right spine arrows for it.

That should make a fun project! Milo is spot-on, in the 50's and early 60's, very few men shot 50lb bows. M.R. James killed his first muley at 47 yards with a 42lb bow. The thought these days is that most folks would be far more accurate with trad bows if they/we would return to lighter poundage.

I'm looking forward to seeing it when you are done!
