Chagrin River

I just moved here recently from Colorado. I live about 2 miles from the Chagrin River where it dumps into Lake Erie. A guy I work with said it is a good steelhead river but he doesn't fish. I am guessing the steelhead run all winter and into the spring like most other places but I am not sure. What is the preferred method of fishing for them and what other species can I target? I usually use salmon spawn or a jig tipped with wax worms. Also can someone recommend a good tackle shop in the area of Eastlake or Willoughby? Thanks in advance

Steelheads run from September to around Easter, problem is the last month before Easter the Damn suckers run up the river. Your in a great spot for them. I fly fish for them. Grand River Tackle was a great shop but they closed down. Just follow the river heading north and you will run into some other shops. You may want to try minows as well. One guy I know uses night crawlers and does well. Good Luck.
