RIP Simon

With a heavy heart I have to say Simon My 13 year old lab
Passed to the happy hunting ground today

I knew it was a matter of days
But it still wrips my guts

He had been acting out of sorts just before opening day of duck season
But I though he was pouting for nor being taken to the marsh

The monday after the opener he was having trouble catching his breath after a short walk
So I took him to the vet the next day

His lungs were full of fluid and there was a mass on the X Ray

I was given choices and they were all bad
So they gave him a shot and gave me pills to help with the fluid in his lungs

I was able to take him to the marsh 1 last time to sit on the dike and watch the swans swim
But he seemed to know it was his last trip

Up to Sat AM he had been OK , but Sat AM he had a bad morning
And again this AM , but seemed to be better after a hour or so

But I knew it was the end
I was planning on taking him to the Vet in the AM

I saw he was sleeping
So I took a walk just before lunch and when I came in
He had passed

Now I have to clear my head
I called in and took Monday off
So I hope to get back into the hunting mode
As I have been mopeing around with him the last 2 weeks

Oh man, sorry John. I know losing a pet is a very tough thing to go through. People who don't have pets just don't realize how they become part of your family.

One of the true injustices in life is how short a good dogs life is. Stay strong bro. He's chasing all the ducks he could ever dream of now.

I have been there John. Sorry to hear about it. I know I shed more tears over my dogs than I ever anticipated. They are truly man's best friend.

Sorry for your loss John. I just got a new new duck dog last year, and hate to think about that day. We put so much time and love into our hunting partners......its hard to lose them. I hope all the birds in heaven come in feet down for him.
