Two bits of bad news in one phone call today.

1. My Great Uncle died from injuries sustained in a one vehicle crash today. They think he had a heart attack and veered off the road into a tree. Very sad to lose relatives. We have a large family that is pretty close considering how big a family we have. Relatives were already driving in from MS, TN, and KY. Please keep my Great Aunt and family in your prayers. Didn't think I would be driving to Marengo again this soon.

2. While speaking with family members about my Uncle, it was brought to my mother's attention one of my cousins is struggling with her fight of brain cancer. She is in her early 20's, married less than a year, and has had a series of difficult operations/chemo/radiation in attempts to win this battle. Apparently the shunt in her head (don't ask me, I am not sure how it works) has split her scalp open and is pushing out. The surgeons do not want to even attempt to mess with it. She is currently looking for a surgeon willing to replace the shunt. Until it is replaced, she cannot undergo any chemo or radiation treatments. She is a sweetheart with a heart of gold and her, her sisters, and parents, along with her new husband have been through an awful lot in the last few years. I don't know her husband at all, but to refuse to cancel or postpone the wedding until she got better really says a lot about how much he cares for and loves her. He knew what he was getting into and wanted to marry her despite the financial hardships he knew they would be facing. I pray for her and commend him for staying by her side through all of this. Please keep them in your prayers.

Never sent out one of these before and don't really need a big sympathy party as sometimes we just don't know what the good Lord has in store for us. I accept this. Please pray for all my family members that may be in need though. I would appreciate it. I can't think of any of them that aren't pretty strong in their religious convictions, and I know they would all appreciate it. Thanks, Phil

I gotta admit. I am a bit misty right now reading all the responses. I cannot thank you guys enough. We have one hell of a group of hunters on this site. Sometimes it isn't the day to day stuff. The paycheck, the dinner last night, planting the garden, fixing the siding or toilet, or even gearing up for a hunt, is most of the stuff we probably won't remember in the long run. The words of encouragement and prayer from your "online hunting buddies" while you look at "deer porn" (as my wife calls it), means a lot and I will remember the support you guys have shown. Much thanks. I may never meet many of you, and others I might see once a year or so, but you guys are considered friends to me. Thanks again.

Prayers for you and your family members Phil. I will give my pastor a call and pass it in to him. I know first hand the more people praying the better it is. Prayer changes things... Stay strong and let me know if there is anything I can do bud.
