A lot of people say mornings because it's stays cooler longer after sunrise. I've killed my last 3 bucks in the evening though.

Got to thinking about this the other day... Every single buck I've killed in the past 30 years has all been in the morning.. and i'm not a morning person lmao

I’ve never killed a deer in the morning. I don’t have any properties with good morning access either though. Wish I did. I’ve only killed 2 mature bucks in my 25 years of hunting, both mid day.

Not sure on the overall ratio... But me personally, I've killed the vast majority of my deer in the mornings. Pretty sure I've only killed one evening buck actually.

For all deer, it’s about 70/30 morning/evening for me. Of my four best bucks, two in the morning, two in the evening

I've killed all my major bucks in the evening right before sunset. And this is over 45 yrs. hunting in Ohio.
Only couple bucks in the morning but all rather mid size.
I still hunt morning just for the love of hunting.

I think the majority of deer are killed in the evenings. The reason being that most people who work can only hunt the evenings except for the weekends. Just from being out there more in the evening makes more buck taken in the evening. During the rut starting about now until just before Thanksgiving, i think midday is actually better than the morning or evening. I do think outside of the rut that if going for a big buck I would give the edge to the evening.

With that train of thought. Is mid day better because more people are in the woods this time of year during that time?

I think it all depends on how you access the property your hunting and what's around atleast for me it is all about catching them on wether they are headed to food or to bedding areas

I think it has to do with the property or properties you're on.
My little patch in Adams county is a morning-only spot for seeing deer.
The guy across the road, who's spot is maybe 500-600 yards away only sees deer there in the evening.
But every deer I've ever killed except for one has been in the morning.
And that evening deer is at a friend's place who says that his property is mainly an evening property.

Except - during the rut. Then all normal bets are off.
