This year will be different for me. Losing Dad had me in a weird mind set still. My heart isn't really into much of anything. My goals will be very simple.

1) Have a safe season.
2) Enjoy my time with God in the woods.
3)Enjoy myself.
4) Hopefully have my son join me on some hunts and further build the fire in his belly to hunt more.
5) Bucks? I don't care. No goals here. There are a few I'm watching. I don't care if I eat my tag or not. Maybe I'll get an opportunity at a nice buck and take a shot. Maybe not.
6) Does? I don't know. Need to do a freezer inventory. Hoping I can get by with one deer this year. Honestly not seeing a lot of deer lately. I need to do an inventory from the stand and see if my areas can withstand missing any does.

Pretty simple. Be safe. Thank the Lord. Enjoy it.

Good luck Phil. Sometimes we have to keep it simple to get back to our roots. I wish you luck in finding your path.

I'm kinda on the same path. Going to use the KISS method this year. No goals beyond enjoying myself and sharing that with others.

Im hoping for a successful and safe season for everyone else. Id love to finally fill a buck tag this year, but Im not holding my breath. I just want to watch the woods wake up and enjoy the peace and quite. Good luck to everyone this year, stay safe.

It doesn't have to hunting season for that bub. Don't cut yourself short, every day is a good day to watch the woods wake up. It's waking up as I type this.

1. Make fun of Tall Chad, Bearded Chad, Giles and Dustin daily
2. Staying Safe
3. I actually have a target buck this year unlike previous years, so he is my goal (I have real big buck expectation this year)
4. Kill my meat doe early (like opening weekend early)
5. Enjoy myself in Colorado, take in every moment of the experience
6. Thank our lord and savior daily for allowing us to live in the greatest county on earth!

Goals are simple this year.

Stay safe.

Hunt smart.

Thank God every time.

Use my stand time for reflection. The next 4 months is a time I feel closest to Connor, my dad, and my grandfather. Stand time for me is therapeutic. A great big nasty buck would be a bonus.

Enjoy it fellers and stay safe.

Dustin- Make it a goal. Write it down. Tape it to your wall, the dash of your truck, put it on a tote you haul your hunting gear in. . . .Something. If you want to achieve this, make it happen. You can do it! Sounds like a fantastic goal.

I echo what Jon says here.

I feel differently about this season than I have any other season previously. Ultimately, I want to stay safe and stay thankful. Anything beyond that is icing on the cake. I'd love to finally kill a buck off the farm and end the 12 year curse. I'd love to recover a beautiful mature on a frosty November morning with my girls and buddies. It's been a long time coming and if this is the year, I'm ready. And if not, been there too.

This is the first time in my life I have not had extreme time obligations in the summer or Hunting season! So there are a lot of first for me!

1. Be out for opening day.
2. Take in the beauty that surrounds me and forget about the dumpster fire our world has turned into! Disconnecting from social media is always an amazing thing!
3. Target a few bucks I have been tracking this summer.
3. Harvest a big heifer!
4. Get my wife and daughters out to experience a few hunts.
5. Help a fellow hunter be successful.
6. Don't dwell on the mistakes and enjoy the experience!!!!!! (Live and Learn)
